I saw Duvall play 3rd a few times in Spring Training this year. He made a couple of really nice plays, and has a strong arm. Not sure on a day to day basis, but he can play the position. I like his approach as a hitter, too. And he has some power.

I thought I heard calsnow say he's a butcher over there... :noidea:

Doesn't Duvall play third?

When I posted "Duvall is really a third-baseman" several days ago, I was ridiculed. Despite the fact that in the minors he's played significantly more games at 3B than anywhere else (5x more at 3B than all other positions *combined*). He may not be the *best* 3B, but that's his position.

I can't comment on his defensive skills as a whole, just on what I saw in Arizona in the Spring. He looked decent there at the hot corner.

Come on, Huddy! Shut them down here!

In Philly, we have 7 SDI and 6 non-SDI. Yikes! (And yet we have won three games)

I think some of the stats you focus on don't correlate that tightly with wins.

Sure, but the people with the rings and the baseball paychecks don't play him there for a reason...

Well, they probably don't play him there because Pablo is there, and Arias is a capable defender as a backup. If Arias went down, and Panda needed a day off, who would play 3rd? Just a hypo.

I dnt know if I was one of the ones who "ridiculed" you, but if I was, it was not my intention. I remember talking about his D in the fact that he is REALLY bad there. While it is his natural position, few believe he has an MLB future there. He is either a 1B or DH.

Then again, anyone who thought Panda was going to be a 3B was a moron as well since he was a catcher throughout his minor league career and "never" played 3rd until he got to the majors.

The way Craw has been hitting and playing D, I would not be apposed to seeing what he can do in a more utility role. He certainly has the arm for 3rd.

I am getting more and more OK with the idea of opening the position to EA and Duffy next spring to see if either can yank the job from him.

Giants have one error. Philth scored one run in two innings. Gameday says both runs unearned. Huh? :noidea:

Posey had a PB. It's not called an error, but if a run scores as a result, it is unearned.

1st inning - Rollins double, goes to 3rd on PB, Byrd singles. Run is unearned.
