There is this from Schulman:
"Straily appeared to retaliate in the bottom half by hitting Buster Posey, causing Straily and Miami manager Don Mattingly to be ejected. On his way out, Mattingly threatened retaliation “if not tonight, tomorrow,” according to Giants manager Bruce Bochy."

As SFSportsFan points out, it is a day game after a night game, so it makes it easier for Bochy to sit him, but I'm sure that exchange helped make the decision easier.
