The Pirates broadcast showed a close-up of the trainer walking up and Scutaro clearly said "It's broken."

It was obvious after he was hit that it was broken. There was no question in my mind.

Noonan gets the immediate call, but I wonder if they call up Panik. He is having a SOLID year in Richmond.

Panik only gets the look if Scoots is DL'd. I wasn't proposing starting his clock if Scoots just had a jammed pinkie.

He may have an injury, but he at least needs to sit. Too many arms in the minors that can take his place.

You do have to wonder how much longer they'll keep him on the staff. You also have to wonder how much longer Timmah stays in the rotation...

Gotta be until Vogelsong comes back, or near the trading deadline, whichever comes first. We don't really have any other choices.

The injuries are hurting us. That's a given. But we are also playing like shit. that just compounds the situation. As MSG stated we need to make it through this road trip no more than 5 behind. I just don't see this team reeling off 10-12 wins in a row. I just thibnk that the NL West is too balanced for that to happen. The NL East and Central aren't cakewalks either.

IMHO I think the biggest loss so far this year for us is the emergence of a real stopper. I just don't see anyone (at this point) on our starting rotation that is filling that role. They all seem to be struggling. The pen seems to be somewhat stable. Kontos looks to be the exception at the moment. Last year I just couldn't see us losing more than 3 in a row and that would be the real exception. Not so sure this year.

Just seems that our SPs are having a real problem trying to put away batters after they get 2 strikes on them. Seems like we are always pitching deep into counts and losing quite a ferw of those battles. Our defense hasn't helped the cause either.

Still plenty of baseball left to play. Just hope we play a a somewhat higher level the rest of the way out. Just hard to understand how the strength of last year's team seems to be our biggest concerns at the moment. Never would have imagined that we would be looking at our SP and defense as major contributors to this mess ....

Agreed, but he was not horrible last night. In 4.2 innings, he gave up 2 earned.

Give the Pirates credit - they are legit.

More frustrating is that we got collared by a guy making his first ML start, albeit a former No 1 overall.
