Bumbarner on the mound in a possible playoff match up with the Nats. Nats are good and Bum faces Fister who he faced in Game 2 of the 2012 WS vs. Detroit . It's important for the Giants to show the Nats who is boss especially at AT&T Park. Bumgarner is the right man for the job. Should be a good game.

Nats out duel the Giants in a throwback NL Game 2-1

The Nats are who I thought they were...damn good. Tonight at AT&T Park the warm weather was replaced with a cloudy type blustery night and that usually means a pitchers night. Both starters were good but Fister was a little better. Bumgarner was on too but gave up two runs in the 5th inning and that was enough for the Nats to win this game. A quality start for Bum 7 IP 2 ER 5 SO. A tough loss as he drops to 8-4 for the year.

On offense the key stat of the night was that the Giants were 1-10 with RISP. Sandoval did all he could going 3-3 and a walk. He got cut down at the plate on a powerful throw from Werth on a sharp single by Crawford who also had a good night. Crawford's triple in the 9th ignited the sold out crowd but it would not be. Crawford scored on a Hicks ground out but the team came up 1 run short. Giants lose 2-1. I am convinced that the Giants and the Nats are the best two teams in the NL.

The Giants lost but I enjoyed a 2 hour 55 minute NL throwback style pitchers duel. Somewhere down the line these two teams should meet in the playoffs. Giants have 2 games left in this series to make a statement and even things up. Cain goes Wednesday in his second start following his injury. This series is heating up.The Giants bats need to wake up after a two day slumber. The Giants have not hit a HR in four straight games. As Kruk and Kuip like to say ...."they are due".
