Well, here it comes. The big cut down to the 53 man roster. It'll all come down today.

Who makes the team and who doesn't?

Do we carry only 8 OLinemen?

What are we going to do at PK?

Do we only carry 2 QBs again?

How many of the Dlinemen make the team?

We've got a ton of LB talent. Well, reportedly some other teams are interested:
As it turns out, the Niners are LB-heavy and other teams are inquiring about trading for some of our LBs. Personally, I'd be sad to see promising young Lbs like Winters or Graham go. Both have been quite good in TC and preseason.

WR Tay Matin has been cut. According to NFLN. Looks like that firms up Ronnie Bell's spot on the team.

Niners waive FS Q.Knight. I'm a little surprised at this move this early. I thought he'd end up getting cut, but I think he could end up on the PS again. He could really have a future at safety and NCB.

OT L.LWatson waived. Niners will probably want him back on the PS.

Reports saying that LB J.Graham has MADE the 53 man roster! That is quite an accomplishment for the 7th rd rookie from Purdue!

Niners waive OL Ilm Manning. Reports say the team hopes to land him back on the PS.

Early reports say that OL J.Poe has been waived too.

Team is working on an injury settlement for PK Z.Gonzalez. It would clear up a roster spot.

On a related note, the Commies cut former NIner CB T.Castro-Fields. Just in case the Niners are intersted in him.

FB J.Colletto waived as well. Other teams are reportedly interested in him, as many were after the draft this year when he was an UDFA.

Ronnie Bell MADE the team at WR after a strong preseason.

Early reports say that 6th round rookie LB Dee Winters MADE the team at LB too. 2 rookie LBs making the team is a BIG accomplishment.

5th rd pick Darrell Luter will start the season on the PUP list, so he'll miss the first 4 games at least.

Niners release WR A.Miller. He basically stopped for a cup of coffee with the Niners.

CB/returner D'shawn Jamison MADE the team! An undrafted player making a roster like the Niners is a BIG deal! Good for him.

We all really want to know what will happen at NCB. Will Oliver make the team or will Womack/Demo got to NCB? Gotta admit that Oliver was a very shaky (bad) player at NCB.

McgIll is a bit of a surprise imo. Because Hyder and Bryant are NOT subject to waivers, the talk is that the Niners will resign them to the 53 man roster once the waiver claims are over.


This is season ending IR--Latu is gone for the year. Wasn't looking like he'd have made the team anyway if he wasn't a 3rd rd reach.
PK Z.Gonzalez also going to IR. That is an odd move. Not sure of his injury. Is this just a way to ensure he'd get paid and he agreed to it?

I'm a little surprised we kept 3 Qbs, 4 TEs, and 9 DBs.
Oliver made the team only b/c of the guaranteed money he was paid. He stunk out loud. Won't surprise me to see him on the bench soon.
Beal will be cut just as soon as Bosa shows up.
Surprised that both Pryor and Zakelj made the team. Neither had all that good a PS.
Honestly, I'd rather have Bailey Zappe at #3 QB than Allen.

Lots of roster moves are coming tomorrow once waivers clear. We'll not only see our PS, but we know for sure that 1 or 2 DLinemen will be added and other roster moves made.

I'm still amazed that on a team like the Niners, we had several late round picks make the team. A 6th and THREE 7th rd picks made the team. That is astounding.

Gotta say, I'm still shaking my head at how the Lance thing played out. While I don't think he was ready, I still think he could develop and in all likelihood would have gotten some reps this year. I get that we have a "win now" mentality, and I'm not in the coach's room, but I have a hard time thinking that we would only be anything but marginally better with Darnold. I guess that $5M cap hit next year was just too much to consider in the grand scheme of things. Or Kyle really hates Lance.

Years ago this board was VERY lively, but most left at the same time. I was too busy at the time to worry about it, but yeah this board never came back.

Yep, this Lance thing was bad any way you look at it, not Lance's fault but the decisions made to trade and to draft him. Granted, there were factors they couldn't have foresaw, the main ones were his injuries which prevented him or slowed his progress. The next one was Purdy's rise which further pushed his progress back.

Also don't think Darnold earned the No. 2, seems this was the plan all off-season? Maybe they committed to Darnold in order to sign him, so KS is keeping his promise?

IF that was the case, I think we'd have traded Lance much earlier in the offseason.
