LOL...the New England Patriots were fined 1MM.

Kraft was not personally fined at all.

Don't let facts get in the way of your rage-gasm.

Brady loses 2million

Pats fined 1 million

Pats with a Net Gain of 1 million

"Out to get us!!!

^^^Somebody's never played sports.

Or even rode a bike.

Or has a car.

The tires on your big wheel not deflating isn't proof, guy. They're made of hard plastic.
No one is denying that the gas law exists. What we are debating is how people were claiming this was the reason for the balls to be under pressure, even though the balls used by their opponents were not. When you add the evidence of the opponents balls with the questionable texts between the Patriots ball boys, you have to come to the same conclusions as everyone else or, you start to look very foolish.

I just wanted everyone to see this column from a real NFL writer that doesn't have an agenda.

Could his agenda be that he (or perhaps more likely, his boss) knows that if you write a pro-Brady/pro-Patriots article right now, that every Patriots fan online will be copying and pasting the link as you've done above?

Everyone's got an agenda, son.

who pays the fine?

Well, YOU will (in part) obviously. This will be another business expense on the Patriots financial reports which will be made up for in the normal team revenue.

Or maybe those fans who started the GoFundMe page.

Of course not, but don't lose sight of the real issue: Irsay gets busted with a car full of drugs and admits a drug problem. He is fined $500K. Kraft is cleared of any wrongdoing by the report commissioned by the NFL and he he is fined $1M. Makes sense.
I thought that 500k was the max fine that the league could impose. This 1MM fine may be two 500k fines adding up to the total of the 1MM.

I could be wrong though.

No, legally he's not paying the fine. What's so tough about this? It's a business expense, like many others. The business is paying the fine.

I guarentee you that Kraft knows (and benefits from) the legal distinction there.

I'm just trying to figure out why Goodell is still commish if he sucks at it and apparently makes no money for his employers

Absolutely no question that Goodell made money for the owners. Good on him for that. On the flip side, he's probably the worst disciplinarian I've ever seen. His punishments are all over the map. The media spotlight has been shining brightly on the NFL these past few seasons mostly because of his slip ups. We now have another circus in town for the next 6 months at least and it's going to be a huge distraction as teams prepare for the new season. The question is, is Goddell worth it, or do they explore other options. Goddell isn't the only guy out there with a head for business. Just sayin'.

What went wrong? They got caught, they got punished. Maybe if Brady was the ONLY suspension. The guys that actually did it should be suspended, too.

Rock, you're really reaching here aren't you.

The team gets fined 1MM and is able to write it off as a business expense. There are probably 3 dozen tax loopholes that they can benefit from.

Kraft get's fined 1MM and would have to pay it after taxes, and it would end up being close to 1.4MM in earned money to pay that 1MM fine.

Kraft LOVES that the TEAM is fined and not him personally.

Bump

An OWNER with a drug problem and an arrest. You think that "reflects negatively on the shield"? Ray Rice punches his GF in the face ON CAMERA and gets 2 games. Nah, that doesn't shed any negative light on the NFL, either. It's perfectly normal to have every women's group protesting the NFL. But Tom Brady maybe playing with a football that is 2% below the rules is the REAL issue out there.

Drugged out owners don't impact the game. Bounties, roiding, and modifying equipment after it's been checked do. 4 games is right, same as a positive PED test.
