It was looking for the longest time like Fleury was going to steal this game as he actually played very well despite his .846 save percentage. Yes, the first goal by the Flyers shouldn't have counted due to offside, but two minor penalties were also called on the Flyers in the second that never should've been whistled down. Killing off four minutes of power play time may have significantly slowed the comeback. The penalty on Giroux for boarding was for something the Pens were doing all game long (hitting people in the numbers), but especially throughout the first period.

Now, hopefully we get a more competitive game right from the start on friday. It's already clear that the Flyers will not be intimidated at Consol. I do not expect to lose focus at the beginning of a game for that long again.

I could watch that all day long. You think that guy isn't competitive? I love it.

You don't think Lavy was pretending Tony Granato was in front of him with that celebratory punch, do you?

Just one...I hope they're pissed off though. Paul Martin haunts my dreams. Dumbass.

Add Michalek to the list of hauntings. :L

And Letang...and Orpik...it was really a bad night for the entire D. Letang was good on the offensive side. But man, Martin just WATCHING the faceoff win on the 2nd Briere goal...just EW. And Michalek had that turnover behind the net. Orpik let Briere get behind him on #1 and took a stupid penalty. We need Nisky back...and he should replace Martin.

Good game yesterday.

I would like to say that I predicted we would lose after it was 3-1. It was all too eerily familiar from another game one I was in attendance for...Rangers/Pens, 2008, except we were the team down 3-0 to start. I was hoping we would hold on and win a tight one, but the writing was on the wall in the form of poor puck management.

If this team can't put together a solid 60 minute effort, it's not going to win many games.

Edited to add: And no I'm not calling this series over and looking for the nearest bridge (so many to choose from!) to jump off.

Seriously!! I've been sayin' it for weeks, now. Niskanen is probably the most overlooked player the Pens have. He really is a clutch member of the defensive core, and he didn't skate with the team today at practice:thumbsdown:

Niskanen has been our best, most steady defensive defenseman this year. And the best puck manager.

He should be brought back next year.

I also think Despres needs to be in the lineup. Yank Martin. He's good against soft teams, but Philly can throw him around like a rag doll, and they did last night.

He was on the ice and played a major role in, what, three of Philly's goals?
