Yeah. You see all the potential defensively with Ingram. It’ll be interesting to see how he progresses there. I took a quick look at the advanced stats and they seem to favor Simmons but I also tend to think those numbers can be skewed quite a bit by the player’s team. Sometimes you’ve got to just go by the eye test.
Simmons is a decent jumper and some longevity away from possibly being one of the best ever.

Yeah, let's just forget Simmons is on the better overall team with most likely a better coach.

I thought I mentioned that the Sixers had a better defensive team?

Well I'm not surprised that you don't see a big gap between. However you aren't going to find a lot of folks that agree with you, particularly at this point.

Maybe Ingram is better defensively but the metrics sure don't reflect that. Ben Simmons is 4th in defensive BPM and 2nd in defensive win shares. He's 10th in defensive rating.

Now defensive stats are not always perfect indicators of defensive performance because defense requires team effort and the Sixers defense is significantly better than the Lakers on the whole. But I would like to know why you think that Ingram is as good or better than Simmons defensively?

Simmons is either the best or 2nd best player on a 50 win team. Ingram is a promising young player who has shown flashes of being really good but who does not elevate his team, at least this point in his career.

Kevin O'Connor, who wrote a piece 3 months or so ago, comparing Simmons and Ingram and how it was a really tough choice with Simmons getting the slight edge, just came out with his All-NBA team.

Why James Harden Is the MVP

He argues that Simmons could be All-NBA 2nd team but winds up putting him on the 3rd team. It's unclear whether Ingram is best player on his lottery team.
I think Ingram is the best prospect on his team.

But, he's still a few thousand cheeseburgers away from being what I think he will be when he reaches is his ceiling.

OMG.

After 1 season?

I want to see him stay healthy before I heap all these accolades on him. He's missed an entire season.

You can't predict injuries. If were are going to speculate about ANY player then we can always say that they could get injured. And I think Mecca made reference to his durability by mentioning longevity.

He definitely needs to get stronger. No question about that. I would argue that Ball is still the better prospect. Ball was pretty good, when healthy, aside from perimeter shooting.

That's where the longevity comes in.

Have actually watched him play this Season?

He was really tentative at first.

Now that his confidence has grown, he's a fucking monster out there.

Seriously, he is a faster version of rookie Lebron and that is fucking terrifying.

He just doesn't have to score as much because he has a better Team than Lebron had.

Except, he's already been hurt.

Yes. He's looked really good when I've seen him.

You might be right.

Remember: I'm the Gal who values offense above all else...lol

But, Ingram has a bit of point forward in him to go along with the scoring.

That's what I like most about him.

Except, he's already been hurt.

Well he doesn't have a history of injuries. And he would have almost certainly if the Sixers were fighting for a playoff spot.

He's been pretty rock solid this year.

He has.

But, just like Lonzo, he needs to work on those free throws and develop a jumper.

That's my worry for him in the Post Season.

When it gets tight at the end of games in the playoffs, will he have the confidence to drive the ball?

It doesn't seem like he's lacking in confidence. But we shall see come playoff time.

I was unaware of that. Thought it was a serious injury.
I think it was.

Philly got some flack for his massive weight gain.

If I remember correctly, some thought he bulked up way to fast and that it could have been the catalyst for his foot injury.

But, it hasn't been a issue since.

Oh my god... are you kidding me. You 100% did say I was bragging over who the taller midget was. You 100% did say you’d rather have the Lakers roster. You 100% did say you’d rather have Ingram over Simmons. So if I post them will you apologize?

False.

Actually, I backed away from this a bit. I think Ingram is close, but Simmons is better defensively. Th difference is, as I pointed out in another post, Simmons has more muscle on him and can defend better in the post.

As for the gap not being as big, there are more that agree than you think. Simmons gets skewed a bit because he's on a better team.
