Maybe, but if it happens to one of your players, you'll look at those hits a bit differently. Clean hits I have no problem with, it's the dirty, cheap ones that piss me off. Goes all the way back to watching Orr's career get cut short.

The thing is, the league thought they were protecting players from serious head injuries when they made helmets mandatory. I think Derek Sanderson had it right. Head shot increased 10 fold because of that rule.

Yeah... I know. But when you skate with your head down, especially at the blue line you are liable to get knocked the fuck out.

I always thought the exact same thing. The idea of a player wearing a helmet makes players think they are better protected to absorb more punishment. But with the speed of today's game and how hard they can shoot the puck, helmets are a must.
