NJ blew away Vegas last night and the NYR took out Pitt in OT.

This leaves us in a position where if we don't play to win tonight, we could quickly be sitting in the last wild card spot or outside of the playoffs altogether. We don't want either of those spots, quite frankly.

It's time to start looking ahead here, bringing our A game and playing for the division title, not for just any old playoff spot.

For me, the difference between the 1st or 2nd seed and the last wild card is absolutely enormous. You lose home ice and you get Tampa or Boston in round one.

Yup. I agree we are toast and my question here is how in the fucking world can't this underachieving team not hold a 13 pt cushion? Will Hextall have the sack to fire Hakstol for this epic meltdown? Not sure where the breakdown is, Mrazek has looked like shit and the defense has looked like the fuckin keystone kop's at times? Sometimes it's cohesion, and then next total chaos. Also where is our battle on the boards? The physicality play has to pick up big time, To much playing in our own zone, our goalies aren't built for that.

I think the combination of a slow start or not wanting it quite as much as them and Bob standing on his head doomed us in this one. It's pretty much unacceptable on home ice, but I don't blame Mrazek for this one. We have to be better around him defensively and also not turn the puck over in bad areas. As we've seen alluded to before, literally it is veteran guys like Gudas and Manning doing this shit. Maybe toss in veteran forwards like Raffl, Lehtera and Filppula too.

Lyon will probably start Saturday since he did finish this game off well and did not look shaky like in previous games. I no longer feel like it's an automatic loss if we start him at Carolina.

It was a resilient comeback attempt, but Columbus did what good teams do. They grabbed the lead early, held it throughout with strong goaltending and eventually locked it down defensively in the final frame.

I also saw in the post-game coverage how the Blue Jackets tweeted a photo of Bob as a Flyer. Going to be awhile before we live that fucking trade down. That said, I would love to get the 2nd or 3rd seed, face them in round one and then get some revenge.

That 4th goal on Mrazek was putrid. That's a must-save IMO. Can't wait for Elliot to get back. Needed more from the rest of the team too though, no question. But at that time they were bringing more. They DOMINATED the first portion of the 2nd and then that goal broke their backs.
