They won’t have to lay down to anyone. They will lose straight up. The Lions are way better, the Cardinals are better and will be fighting for a playoff spot and Miami should beat them tooWe were essentially out of the play-offs after the Bills game, but this loss clinches it.
Its nice to think we should lose for a better draft slot but don't like it and never did. You cannot ask your team to lay down, you just can't. Even though there's no play-offs down the road, you send the message to the team......we game plan to win.
Now there is a little bit of playing "future starters" for game experience. Not a problem doing that so its a matter of when they go in, how much time each game?
Whelp, Miami is better for sure. They won’t have to lay down to anyone. They will lose straight up. The Lions are way better, the Cardinals are better and will be fighting for a playoff spot and Miami should beat them too
I think the question is have they finally learned their lesson that you have to prioritize the offensive line. Additionally, can they avoid injuries. Down to their 5th string running back, their third string left tackle, their second string left guard. They lost their best interior defensive lineman for the season arguably their best linebacker played maybe 20 snaps this year, their other great linebacker has been playing on a broken leg the entire season, their best two defensive backs missed significant time, their best wide receiver missed almost the entire season, they even had to use 3 kickers due to injury and that’s almost a statistical impossibility. Kicker never get hurt.Whelp, Miami is better for sure.
Yeah ok, they will likely lose the last two games anyway, but the point is you don't coach your team to lose, you don't game plan to lose. If you lose because the other teams are better fine, but different matter.
In the big picture:
1. Too many play-off games over too many seasons. You should've won it by now, even won TWO SBs. But the play-off games has taken its toll, add the SB hangover and there you have it.
2. Shanahan's scheme has been figured out after 8 seasons. But this is the same for all innovative schemes throughout NFL history, so the question is can Shanahan vary his scheme? Can he morph it enough so defenses can no longer anticipate his moves?
3. Not hitting on enough draft picks is catching up, last year was good but go back 2-5 draft classes.
I am for extending Purdy because be careful of what you wish for.
I'm actually ok if they draft BPA, but going back 4 years, there's still too many misses? Most times than not, only an OT will be our BPA in Rounds 1 through 3.I think the question is have they finally learned their lesson that you have to prioritize the offensive line. They get a last place schedule next year so things will look up
Shanahan is not coaching to lose, he’s just coaching horribly; especially in the 4th quarter where they are minus 63 for the season. His misplaced confidence in his horrible defense has burned him time and again but he doesn’t learn. Aggressive coaches win, cautious coaches lose
I think Center is more of an O line priority than Tackle is for the Niners. Brendel is absolutely worthless. He can’t hold up in pass protection. Purdy always has a man right in his face and that is on Brenden and is the main reason for Purdy’s struggles this year. And we know how much Shanahan loves the first down run up the middle for one yard. That’s on Brendel as well. The other issue with that is if we fans all know it’s coming, the opposing defense certainly does as wellI'm actually ok if they draft BPA, but going back 4 years, there's still too many misses? Yes, a LOT of things went wrong this season, just about everything went wrong in one game or another?! Players and Coaches went wrong and for sure as HC, Shanahan takes most of the hit. Even Lynch takes a hit for his continued miss with draft picks, it catches up to you whether starters or depth.
It seems like there will be an OT worth the 10th overall pick. IF so, a projected HOF would have to fall for us to pass on OT. If there isn't an OT worth the 10th, then go Edge.
