I think you mean Fred Beasly Gore was a 3rd round rookie and backup RB when Lloyd was here doubt he would have said anything to him

Gore might not have said anything to him directly, but he did call out the players and I recall he did a media interview slamming them. Brandon Lloyd was young then. Hopefully he has matured.

This is a mixed bag. I'm not sure if he'll even survive cuts to make it to the season, and I don't like the idea of delaying Patton's opportunities to come into his own for another (potential) year, but B-Lloyd made one of my favorite all time catches by a Niners WR. It was a close-to-useless play that didn't even get a first down, and on the next play Garcia threw a grounder from 4th & 1 for a turnover near the end of a losing effort, but Lloyd sure was gifted at those acrobatic catches when he wanted to be.

That's still the most likely scenario unless a WR they love drops and they value someone like Breeland in the 2nd over say Roby. With all the ammunition, I think they trade up into the late teens/early 20's and get the CB they covet if they can get the kind of deal they got with Dallas last draft.

I've got to think he's primarily competing with Baldwin, though there's a decent chance neither guy makes the team. Assuming there is little to no guaranteed money, what the hell? To an extent, we need to be playing for now.

And for what it's worth, Lloyd has had recent success against the Hawks. 80 yards in 2012 and 67 yards and a TD in 2011 against them.

They're about a year late with this signing...

I question the use of that word there... Past success is accurate. I think he's shut down with the current Seahawks roster; combination of them getting better (from 2012) and him being out a year.

That's fair. Though the 2012 roster was basically the same that he would face this year. And it isn't entirely clear who Seattle's third corner will be.

God, as I say that, I'm realizing that it's not clear who our second CB will be, much less our third or fourth.

With the Aldon Smith situation, Niners may be inclined to draft some needed pass rush. Also Bowman will be out for at least half the season. Niners may need to address pass rush late 2nd round or early 3rd round. I still think they pick a WR with the first two picks. Crabtree may not be back after 2014.

It could be Cook and Cox. That would be a disaster! I hope Verrett falls all the way to pick #30.

I can't see us getting out of the first three rounds without a CB. That guy would presumably have the edge for the third spot, though who knows? CB is a MAJOR concern....

I don't see Lloyd making the team so the signing is really not a big deal. I think he would have to clearly beat out Patton for the #3 role to make it. They won't keep him on as a 4th WR unless he is willing to play special teams.
