He is in the 39.6% tax bracket (income over $400,001) and this is only Federal taxes! Not including state taxes. Commission is what? 2-5%?

Its between 900k and 1 million.

don't even make this much in GROSS pay??!! ok I admit, that is stating the obvious again.

@mattbarrows: Tarell Brown said he learned of his $2 million loss this morning on Twitter ... Called his agent immediately after and parted ways.

Ummmm... Yeah.

I would fire him, ask my other NFL buddies to hire him and then have them fire him again just for good measure.

I agree with Brown, he hired an agent to advise him of these things. the agent is supposed to inform Brown of contractual matters, so this is a basic error. I give Brown a TON of credit for fighting thru it, he is saying the right things and trying to focus on football.

doesn't appear they were going to extend Brown and if not, i'd TRY to extend Kaep, Iupati, Aldon or whomever else is willing? would not go outside to sign a FA.

You could get a ton of good faith on an extension by giving him half that back this year as part of the deal, assuming you want to keep him.

Wow, that shit is crazy. I never really looked at the numbers to see how much they get taxed. I thought you were just pulling numbers out but I checked up on some of the other numbers.

Learn something new everyday!

"For me, I wanted to do a different type of training to get my body ready," Brown said. "Last year, I feel my body broke down a bit at the end of the season."

Funny part IMO, I didn't necessarily see a poor drop in performance towards the end/playoffs run... including SB... didn't he cause or recover a fumble in the SB?

Anycase, I respect the decision to better/improve his body for a longer run... but still the $2 million part... freaking come in, get the money and fake a hammy lol...

now to my next post.... in 3...2...1

HE DIDN"T KNOW about the cash??!?!?!??!?!?

damn I feel bad, his agent fucked up.... hard to tell who did the worse botched up, Browns agent or Dumervil?

JDM posted something on good faith, that's the first I thought of from the niners... lets see how they handle this if this is indeed a true case of I didn't know...

Correction: Former Agent....

I do find it odd that he attended the OTA's last year and emerged as one of the best CB's on the team and this year he decided not to.

When you take taxes and commission into account, it's not that much money. I'd estimate it to be around 900k that his actually leaving on the table. I'm assuming those "bonuses" are still considered ordinary income, since it relates to his job.

He is in the 39.6% tax bracket (income over $400,001) and this is only Federal taxes! Not including state taxes. Commission is what? 2-5%?

Its between 900k and 1 million.
