With the emphasis on slugging, and pitching being good all across the leagues, will we ever see a .400+ hitter again?

Does anybody even get close to .300 anymore? All I ever seem to see are numbers like .260 or .245.

Yes.

And while researching this, I didn't realize how good of a run Wade Boggs had and how good Magglio Ordornez was.

What evolution do you think will happen that will take baseball away from OPS in general …or have a few players and managers ignoring it?

I don't really have a rhyme or reason. Just a feeling that we will. Eventually there will be some team that goes back to the true fundamentals of baseball, and if they are in the right spot at the right time a young guy might grow up in this system and do very well in the big leagues. But this is just my opinion.

Next year the Indians' team batting average will be over .400.

Miguel Cabrera won the triple crown for the first time in 40 years without a evolution .02

Yes, and he batted .330 which is a FAR cry from .400. So, you're arguing for my point.

No, I'm argueing that statistical anomalies do happen.

Yeah, but the triple crown is significantly more likely to happen because its a stat based on a batter competing against other batters. Hitting .400 is something only done by competing against the pitching which is getting better and better.

I think .400 is a thing of the past
