Just like with RISP, it is completely worthless without context. What is the league average? What teams do well/do badly?

Unlike RISP, I believe SDI is mainly coincidental, though.

I think I looked at this last year or two seasons ago. The league average is around 70% as I recall.

In 2015, the Giants were at 73.8%

In 2014, they were at 74.2%

This year (early, SSS, etc.) they are at 64.8%

I may be wrong, but I don't think this is a skill stat. I think it is just a random thing.

Something for stats gearheads to get cooked up about. Still, with a solid pen, that number is higher, I would suspect.

And yes, it is number of SDI divided by the number of innings scored, unless a team scores in the bottom of the last inning to win. So the Giants have prevented the other team from scoring 64.8% of the time in the inning after the Giants have scored.

Just for laughs, the first two against the Fish, the Giants were 7-0 in SDI. In the game their lost, they were 1-2 (one SDI, 2 non-SDI)
