Maybe he had a mechanical adjustment a la Belt? Or maybe he's over the flu that no one mentioned?

Just speculating.

Or someone mentioned some catcher taking over at 3rd, and Duffman said, "Not on my watch!" and began hitting better.
Unfettered competition brings out the best in everyone.

Coming into tonight, the Giants had scored 4 runs in the first inning all year.

They increased that total by 75% tonight. 3 weeks into the season, and they increased their first-inning run total by seventy-five fucking percent.

Blackburn pitching well tonight, one run in 6 innings, helped out by 3 PBF's turned by the Giants. Mac with his 3rd homer of the season, Rivercats lead 2-1.

Coonrod 5 innings of shutout ball for San Jose.

Grant Watson 3 no-hit innings for Augusta before the game was called.

JLo has completely lost his LOOGY-ness. I hope either Osich or Okert can step into that role by the end of the season so we don't need to make a trade.

Quiet night for an 8-1 win.

Jeff's stuff seemed on point tonight, with the bat too. Also, Duffy will probably hit 3rd for awhile now!

Time for Peavy (9.00) and Cain (6.46) to turn the corner. They need to at least get into the 6th inning. Cain is close. A good game from PV here next would be a real lift.

I wonder if early on we got dinger fever and just tried to jack everything after that. In my humble estimation, devoid of any real factual basis, I think we are more of a line-drive, gap-hitting team than a true-long-ball team. The home runs we do get should come from when we actually miss low on the ball and get backspin as a result.

I remember as a kid seeing interviews with Aaron and Clemente, and they said they actually swung slightly DOWN on the ball. Hit it on the nose, and you hit a bullet through the IF that might get through the OF. Miss high, and you get a high ground ball that can go over the IF. Miss low, and you can get a fly ball with high backspin that can float over the wall.

Came home to the Bay this weekend to visit the family and peep a couple games, went Friday and Saturday.

Some things I took from the game Friday:

Scrabble throws harder more consistently then any Giants starter I have ever seen. He was still throwing cutters with hair on it in the 8th.

Crawford is as good as advertised defensively and his range is greater then I expected.

Scrabble was impressive with the bat. #PitchersWhoRake should definitely be a thing.

Pagan doesn't seem to get good jumps in LF. He seemed slow to move on a couple of balls down the line and his breaks towards left center were at least a couple of steps behind Span's reaction time to a ball hit in the same gap.

Broadway was pretty impressive as well, pounded the zone and got the game ending DP.

The Crab sandwich was facking delicious but WAY too small for the price they charge.
