The look on Jake Peavey's face when he gave up the grand slam to Nieves was priceless. What a punkass.

A few games in and I'm right back to be totally sick of Dick Enberg calling Padres games. He's incapable of pronouncing a Latin name. Musta said Nieves as NAY-e-vus a dozen times. :gaah:

He is great for calling figure skating!

Thought this headline kind of funny: "Bond's stance on A-Rod: "Why the hate?". While I don't really hate either one of them, it's pretty easy to understand why they are both so widely disliked. Not at all surprising, of course, that Bond's doesn't get that.

So who should be more worried:

Sox fans about Buchholz or
Yankees fans about inverted W (Tanaka)

I think that Tanaka is more likely than Bucholz to pitch well this season. Been a while since Clay was effective, hasn't it?

Tanaka looks solid. The error by drew killed him. Probably would've ended up going 6 IP only allowing 2 or 3 runs without it

Buchholz yielded 10 runs - nine earned - nine hits and two walks.
After the game he said…

''Felt good with all of my pitches. The command was a little off at first but after that I felt really good,'' Buchholz said.

Good god, really?
I know it’s only April but this dose not bode well

Clay was good (albeit injured a lot) in 2013.

Buchholz has yet to make 30+ starts in a season. He's topped 180 innings exactly once.

He definitely was, even though he only played about half the season. He hasn't been too good in his thirty starts since then, though. But who knows? Hard to predict how most pitchers will pitch, and he seems to be more difficult to predict than most.

Trial by fire today for Chris Heston! Getting the ball for the Giants home opener. This should be...interesting.

He's a guy that drives the fans crazy. He can be lights out (great game against the Phillies) but he can be bad the next start. And when he's bad he's usually really bad like last night.

Compared to what Tanaka looked like at the beginning of last year, I don't know if I'd call him "solid" now. He looks like a #4 or #5 getting paid #1 money. He should have just gone ahead and had the TJ surgery.

Yep. He was good in his first start at AZ, which seems to be a pretty friendly hitters park. Interesting to see how he follows that up against a CO lineup that has hit pretty well.

Buchholz had two CG shutouts (granted it was the Rays and Astros) and finished with a 72 ERA+ last year.
