Well day 1 complete with the kid I am assigned to. Man this little 4ft nothing 9yr old wants to fight everyone. He pegged a football at a kid that was 6'3 roughly 200lbs. Kid has no fear but just makes stupid choices. I had to redirect him a 1,000 times but he did get his work done and from the teachers they said I have never seen him this well behaved before. Cant imagine what he was like before I arrived today if what I saw today was considered a alter boy compared to other days. Seems like he has a carrying father who is on top of his work and strict at home. For some reason this kid and most of the kids at that school disrespect female teachers and they don't listen to them. Not sure what that is about because I feared my mom and crossing her. He is a good kid who seems to have a napoleon complex and wants to fight everyone. The other kids know this and try to poke the bear so he gets mad and goes after them. I know I will be great for this student and with my help he will learn to ignore these kids and like I told him today to worry about himself and not what the other kids are doing. I am beat and exhausted. My bad knees are killing me but at the end of the day when was pissed at me for not getting him a soda as I was walking off the bus dejected a little he grabbed my hand. I walked back up the bus stairs and looked at him. He smiled at me and gave me a fist bump. My knees, my energy, my heart all got healed at that moment and I cant wait for round 2 tomorrow.

I take it back. I came home with a horrible pain in my back and several kids whose only desire seems to be to smack the other kids with balls, bats and whatever else. First practice and I'm already thinking I may not coach next year.
