This thread continues to trouble me Mamba...

I mean, what kind of mixed messages are you sending here to your young boys? When the going gets tough, you bail? IF your team sucks, you just move on to a winning team? Forget about history, it means nothing?

Looks like a good teaching moment here for you and yours in my OP.

ya the poor Browns. .

Or Lions fans, Jacksonville fans, Buffalo fans,

Man up! Christ you got a Super Bowl trip in the new millennium, granted it was against your former head coach who shouldn't have been traded to begin with, I mean it wasn't "Chuckie's" fault they got cheated the year before in Foxborough .....Hell if they weren't cheated their they could have easily won the whole damn thing that year...

I believe it would be a good message for youngins. Loyalty is to be expected when the product is putting forth a good product. Investing money and time into a laughing stock, whether it be a business or in this case a sports franchise.

If you are working for a business in a certain field, no matter what that field is. And they are the poorest run business in said field, do you look for greener pastures? Most likely most would. And that is lively hood where they are paying you.

Me paying them and supporting a floundering franchise that has been so for decades isn't acceptable. Me and Raider fans everywhere deserve better.

I can't just be a fan that is interested when my team is on tv. When I am a fan of a team, I am invested both emotionally and financially. I would say 30 years without a Super Bowl win, and 29 years with one Super Bowl appearance by an iconic NFL team such as the Raiders is about enough. And the doormat status is because of poor decisions and living in the 70s while the rest of the NFL world is advancing and progressing with the modern times.

I read these posts by these poor Raider fans with hope and all I can do is shake my head. Because I have been reading the exact same shit for at least 20 years.

all these teams are not a brand nearly as iconic as Oakland. The Raiders motto is "Just Win Baby" a Commitment to Excellence which is a flat out lie. The franchise is stuck in the mud for 15 years by its own hand.

Oakland fans have tasted and expect success at the highest level. Detroit and Cleveland not so much. And Jax? They are still an expansion team to me all the mentioned.... They are used to the futility.

throw Oakland's W/Ls out for a minute. Imagine the Steelers, Pats, Broncos, and hell even the Chiefs running an organization like Oakland ownership and management has for the past decade.

It is NOT acceptable.

walk 30+ years in this Raider fans shoes, then get back to me.

and for the 5th time in the thread. I will not follow another team if I ultimately cut ties with the Raiders. WIll still watch the NFL, have the Ducks, Blazers, A's, and NW League minors baseball.

Well if your mind is made up then cashin your chips, or wait one season and see what they do this year, granted division is semi stacked with the Broncos and fat Andy's Chiefs, but see if there is a change in the approach on the field this season then make your decision...:suds:

Well....speaking as a Redskins Fan, I think I can put a good 2 cents into the convo.....I became a Skins fan with Riggins running over and thrpugh people...the Denver SB victory, and the 91 Skins kicking all ass they played...Since then,......Not so much......We have been a badly run orginazation since Snyder took over 15 years ago, and figured that fantasy football was the way to go....We have been in last place in our division so many times....so many double digit loses....terrible......

I remember the good ole days of being a SB contented every year..A team that was in the running for the Playoffs and SB every year......Now...not so much....bottom dwellers, that are last place, no picks becasue MGT tradded them for the likes of Sean Gilbert, or Gave Fat Al a REDIColos contract.......but......

When we hit on RGIII his rookie year, and the wins were piling up, and the team won the division, and went to the playoffs,.......SWEET....made the chest go out...thumping Dallas, Philly, NY....oh yes.....

now, Shannahan kept him in that playoff game way too long, we all saw that, and we know what happened....well Shannahan got himself fired for that...but I do feel we are headed in the right direcetion...Our Owner has gotten out of the way and letting Football people make decisions......I was embarrased to be a fan for years, and years, and even last year as they kept losing...but not ONCE did I ever lose faith that my team would turn it around........

Keep the faith, and when it does happen, and they are kicking ass and taking names.......the sweetness of those victories, will be even better!!! Keep the faith Bra!!!

one of the saddest things to do is lurk on the Raider forum and read these fan's delusions of hope.

Damn Mamba I didn't know how you really felt.

I am not one of the delusional, nor do I think are the majority of Raider fans, but I will lay my reason for sticking around on you.

Too young to quit and too old to switch, it's that simple.

I grew up as a legacy Raider fan, born the same year as the team, Dad was a Raider fan, I think I can remember the Heidi game (remember my Dad throwing a fit), I have been to games in Oakland LA New Orleans Miami Tampa Jacksonville, and I think there were more Raider fans in Miami and J'ville than home fans, even when the team didn't make the plane us fans sure did.

I have vented many times since the web message boards came into existence, and yes, aside from the Gruden Gannon years the Raiders have been a real mess since, well, I would say Shanahan firing and Marcus feud would be significant Pearl Harbor type events. I have likened the past decade of futility to a ghost ship, rudderless and adrift on the Horse Latitudes. We should have taken the keys away from grandpa before he put the old Packard in the ditch, but there was no one strong enough to wrestle them away dammit.

Like I said too young to quit , too old to switch.

Don't give up on your team. In comparison, i've been a Mets fan my whole life, have yet to see them in a World Series, haven't won since 1986 and I wasn't even born till 3 years after that, but i've stayed loyal to them.

Football, same with the Falcons, Vick put us back on the map and then he was gone and went through a rough time before Matty Ice took over, and though we haven't achieved our ultimate goal yet, i'm not ready to throw in the towel of my fanhood.

Hope seems lost when the franchise is subjected to hiring the Kiffin's and retread Shells of the world.

And why are these hires made? Because nobody worth a shit would take the job. And why would anybody?

A freaking overhead projector presentation when discussing Lane Kiffin's lying ways.

Now this?????

I can't even look at him with a Raider helmet in front of him, wearing a Raider logo, or the image behind him on an ad board while he speaks.

It makes me fucking nauseous.

Honestly I don't know why there hasn't been a fashion intervention for MD, its a head shaker for sure, but I won't judge him by looks alone, that's just unfair, if he can show solid business sense, willingness to delegate authority and put good people in position to succeed then that's all I can expect.

Raiders logic:

"According to Raiders coach Dennis Allen, playing out of position is why Woodley was injured so much. The weight he had to shed to play outside linebacker with the Steelers was the root, Allen suggested in an interview with NFL.com."

Adding to the absurdity, Allen directly compared Matt Schaub to Peyton Manning.

"We have a quarterback now that's on par with quarterbacks in this division." Allen said Tuesday at the NFL Annual Meeting

facepalm.gif

Woodley never had injury problems when he was playing around 250-260 lbs, but after his fat contract he was playing more around 280lbs. And that is when his injuries started... So adding more weight is supposed to alleviate these injuries????

You've stuck it out this long, you might as well go on and see what the current regime can do. RIP Al Davis, but now that he is no longer running the drafts, you'll have a chance of getting some quality players.

Let me just say I learned to read by Dad and I pouring over the Sports page every morning. I have, for all of my life that I can remember ate, slept, and breathed sports.

The Ducks in the early Brooks era.... Oregon hasn't been a team that was in the National spot light until quite recently. Always found pride in our rivalries with the West Coast teams.

Blazers never a real reason to doubt my fandom. They aren't historically great. But the majority of my life they have been a good brand of basketball minus the jailblazer era.

A's. Love them through and through. In today's MLB they are the picture of the overachiever.

Now, the Raiders. My first true love in any sport. 1981 SuperBowl is the first football game I can remember watching. My family are all Raider fans and I an Oregonian former half season tix holder. However, the franchise is such an absolute joke in so many ways that I don't even need to touch on. The glory days of this franchise have passed decades ago minus the Gannon teams. The team goes through HCs over the last decade so that it is an embarrassment. From AL Davis' overhead projector presentation about Kiffin in a world where that was 20 year old technology. Mark Davis.... WTF? and of course, the fact ?my team? Playing on a baseball field.

The reasons to drop the Raiders like a bad habit are overwhelming. I can't stand the team that I grew up obsessing over. I am trying to find reasons to still follow them. But I can't even watch a game without getting mad and or queasy. This like I said, coming from a former season tix holder and Sunday ticket subscriber.

The NFL has become a chore for me to follow. I never thought that would be the case, but it is and I hate that I feel that way. It isn't even the fact that the Raiders are underachieving in the W/L columns. It is that they continue to be a complete joke and the laughing stock of the NFL. That is the reality. And not just for a couple years. This has gone on seemingly since Gannon left the field injured.

Sorry Raider Nation, you probably could care less and don't need this kind of fan anyways. Just trying to decide what the hell to do.

Is there one good reason to be loyal to a franchise such as the Raiders? I ask the NFL fans your honest opinion.

What other option is there? As a Seahawks, Mariners and Huskies fan I couldn't even force myself to root for another team even if I wanted to. Being a Mariners fan is pretty miserable, but it is my team and I don't really have a choice, it just is the way it is.

I don't know how people can suddenly jump on a bandwagon and be like "Yup, this is my team now."

Me neither. And I dont really know anyone could. It's like family, through thick and thin you just cant walk away even if all they do is disappoint you. That feeling that one day they'll come through for you is what keeps you going.

LOL sports is just entertainment. Its not a life dilemma or a marriage.

LOL at like family. No, its a bunch of sweaty, foul mouthed, overpaid jocks in their 20s who I choose to watch and be entertained by and feel some stupid sense of pride for 10 seconds after they win a game because I happened to root for them then. If they don't win for a while theres no reason to keep bitching about it and analyzing it. The only people that worry about what a bandwagon jumper is are really dumb people that think that's an important topic.

no, you don't have to leave the Raiders or stop being a fan of them. You just don't need to pay that close attention to them till they get good again and its worth your free time. Sports is an entertainment medium not a gang war that I need to pick sides for.

Cubs fans aren't loyal fans, they are just some of the dumbest people in America.

and you cant really complain about a team losing unless its been about 100 years because the odds on getting to a SB a very slim in the first place. They've only not been successful since the early 2000 so there isn't really a problem yet.

IMO, the Raiders never showed any loyalty to their fan base, moving to LA pretty much said that, then moving back to Oakland. Recently putting up the trial balloon about moving again...

It seems like loyalty should be a two way street.

for the 6th time in this thread. I would not choose a new team. I would become an NFL orphan.
