Yes this is the Western Conference Finals!!!! Phoenix Coyotes vs Los Angeles Kings. This is reason #12234 why the NHL is great and the Stanely Cups playoffs might be one of the best post seasons in pro sports. You got an 8th seed vs a 3rd seed for the WCF and both teams were never predicted to go this far! Parity.

Not only that 3 teams were vying for that 3rd spot at the start of the PO. It was so tight, gotta love the NHL.

It's going to be a tough fought series, Smith looks good, Tippet knows defense and he knows the Kings. Hopefully Sutter has some surprises for him

go Coyotes...but truth be told I have a bad feeling about this one..Kings are playing ridiculous right now and look more like a #1 seed then a #8. Kings probably take this thing in 6 games.

LOL i have the same feeling but of the Coyotes. They are playing extremely well and Smith is there to save them when they are not. It is going to be a battle and I think goes 6 or 7. No easy wins for this series

One thing I wonder is how the Coyotes D is going to handle the big bruising L.A forwards. With the Hawks and Preds, they were content trying make pretty passes and set up one timers. The Kings are going to crash the net and screen Smith every trip down the ice.

this is the reason i like the kings in this series. Far more aggressive and if the coyotes get down by 2 goals in a game they are in deep trouble. Truthfully, they get down 1 goal in a game and I don't really like their chances of getting 2 to win.

I don't know how Kings defense is, but the Yotes offense is nothing to write home about.

The Kings D has stepped it up in the PO but at the end of the regular season it was filled with giving up big leads.

Kings D can be leaky but they block a ton of shots. Yotes speed will give them some trouble.

Well both have something going for them, both teams won a short series or two (4 or 5 games). Every Stanley cup winner going back as far as I looked early 90's had at least one short series.

Some things I like about this matchup:

Kings open on the road.
Easy travel.

More than that, I’m afraid to say. I am superstitious. But if I weren’t, I might have said I’m more afraid of Nashville.
