I don't think he can. He's like the Chip Kelly on offense. Remember when Kelly would only have about 4 or 5 plays total on offense. It seems like Brett only runs the dribble hand offs. No pick n rolls. No pick n pops. No iso's.

If it were just Ben Simmons then I would be really critical of him.

But when it is Simmons AND our 2 best shooters, I feel like the only person you can really blame is the coach.

Now maybe it was just too much change too fast and the team will never get into a groove but we added Butler and Harris and the team basically plays the same way except for just giving Jimmy the ball late in the game.

Well to be fair, according to ESPN, JJ really struggles in the playoffs. I didn't look into his playoffs #'s to see if it is true.

I have a hard time seeing Butler resigning if there isn't a coaching change.

It's one thing for JJ to miss shots. Can't do anything about that. It's another thing for him to not take any shots. Redick and Harris taking 14 total shots is just ridiculous gameplanning. Embiid taking almost as many 3s as those 2 COMBINED is also ridiculous.

If the Sixers don't get to the conference finals, Brown is toast. Barring a huge injury excuse or something like that.

I could envision a couple scenarios where Philly loses this game and still win the series.

But, they would need to take steps forward on the defensive end containing the Net guards AND I would need to be fairly confident that Embiid could be a lot closer to 100% for game 3. That could mean sitting him tonight.

Because Philly can absolutely win 2 of 3 in Brooklyn if Embiid is playing at 85% or better and they start defending better.

That said, most likely a loss tonight would be the beginning of the end. Not willing to say it is a done deal though. Lots of basketball to be played.

I didn't use him. went cousins in one and Marjonovic in another....still pondering a switch to Allen (instead of Boban), but thinking I'll leave it.

if embiid plays he could get allen into foul trouble, if they go to him early. if he sits, i don't see them playing Boban alot. I would hope they'd go to a smaller lineup with Bolden at the 5 or even a mix of Scott/Simmons/Harris, with Boban mixed in.

Simmons is playing very assertively early on.

Defensively, he is as good an on ball perimeter defender as anybody in the league when he wants to be. He is way too undisciplined though. He gets beat on busted plays like the one where Russell scored because he just doesn't finish the play. He stops for a second when he thinks the play might be over or flowing away from him, and he gets out of position as a result.

All said though, good start for Philly. The ticket to success for them is Simmons attacking the paint with shooters playing off him. They also should be an elite defensive team given their personnel.

hell, after coming up limp going after a ball on the first play, just put it on ice or whatever he needs to do.
