Well, fuck it
great points but Im talking strictly about the appeals process ... ie is the number of games Torres was suspended consistent with other games suspended for similar acts ... just look at the number and the circumstances surrounding the punishable offence and find a comparable ... (sounds like salary aribitration) and have someone that is removed from the league preside over the appeal so there is no perception of bias
CBA says discipline needs to be enforced in...
a "consistent" manner and question will be was his suspension consistent with others
the NHL planted the seed in previous years that playoff games count for double time ... until shanny said this season anecdotally that they count for 10 times a regular season game ... I dont wanna sound like a defense attorney but wheres the fairness and consistency?
As a fan I could get on board with that. It would help to standardize suspension and not have it be like playing Russian roulette. That will help players know what they are in for. I think one of the worst parts for the players is not knowing if a hit will just be a one game suspension or a 25 game example.
As an owner I wouldn't want anything to do with it (which probably means it's a good idea). NFL kind of has a similar situation. Goodell gives the suspensions & handles all appeals. Not too surprisingly he never overturns his own division.
