I thought thats what he was worth, and the fact it was Pete that pulled the trigger tells me Pete thinks hes worth a 2nd. Thank You Pete, still helping your beloved Seahawks.

So what was the full rumor? DK+ Geno for Max and a high pick? Wish that would have worked out.
I read today it was Geno/DK for Max and a 1st rounder. That would have been nice but i'll take the 3rd and maybe get lucky a few teams will get into a bidding war and someone will over pay for DK.

Won't surprise me to see the Seahawks extend Metclaf but seeing how wrong I've been who knows.

It would surprise me at this moment. Right now, Metcalf doesn't have a QB and I don't think he's gonna want to take the gamble that he's ognna waste the rest of his prime on a team that he isn't confident the QB can/will get him the ball. I'd just be surprised if Metcalf would be willing to extend with the team.

I mentioned on this board that Geno and DK were in a rumor of a trade that included both of them and a high pick. Everyone just kind of blew it off like it was a fantasy.

From walterfootball:

Raiders acquire QB Geno Smith from Seahawks for 3rd-round pick
I wasn’t surprised to see that Geno Smith was traded to the Raiders. However, upon seeing the compensation, I said aloud, “A third-round pick? Why?”

Things would actually be different if the Raiders were a team on the cusp of a deep playoff run and only needed a game manager to help guide them. That’s not the case, however. The Raiders are a team with a faulty offensive line, no running game, a lacking No. 1 wide receiver, and some defensive holes. Smith will not fix all of these issues, and I don’t see the Raiders necessarily even reaching the playoffs with him unless they hit several home runs in free agency and the draft.

Meanwhile, this is a tremendous deal for the Seahawks. It was apparent that their ceiling was capped with Smith. Their best course of action was finding a young quarterback to replace him, and that’s what they’ll presumably do at No. 18 overall. Getting a third-round pick for Smith is a huge win.

Grade for Raiders – D
Grade for Seahawks – A+

And I think everyone on this forum knew we had to find a replacement. Geno IMO wasn't as bad as some thought, but it was evident we were on borrowed time. I just didn't expect it to be 2025... but the team probably figures, "We're not going anywhere with Geno... let's get something while we can." And an EARLY 3rd is just that (course I don't know whether it's the 4th or 9th pick in the 3rd). That cap space at $61M is looking nice, with a DK trade it goes to $71M... can definitely make some moves on key free agents with that.

Lastly, new regimes usually mean new QBs. I know Mac said good things about Geno but I'm sure he wants his own guy.

I wont be as excited if we go give Darnold some MEGA contract.

Why are you giving the Raiders a D? They had 10 draft picks (not including comps), which included tw0, 3rd rounders...

I can see why the Raiders did this... Smith is a leader... Players tend to rally around him and play hard for him.. Maybe that's exactly what the Raiders need... A veteran QB with solid leadership skills... The off season, FA, draft isn't done yet so I find it hard to give the Raiders a D when we don't know what they're going to do... I think it was a win/win for both sides... Now if the Hawks don't do a good job with this move, they could be the one's getting the "D grade when it's all said and done... Obviously, we hope that's not the case...

I'm not? Sorry if that was misread, but that's from WalterFootball's site as I said at the very top. I just thought I'd post it here for reference and it's just one person's take (although I'd argue he knows more about football than me - his site is shown on NFL coverage).

It's a wild idea considering it's something you rarely hear about.

Definitely could happen if the Darnold rumors do come true.
Sure seems like signing Darnold is what they hope to do. The cost is a question, heard they think 35 million per would work and likely have had feelers out at the combine on the price tag. Course that could turn out not to be his price tag, then what? I always think yuck when Darnold is mentioned but compared to settling for Cousins , Rodgers, Trey Lance etc he's sounds a bit better. I don't think there is any doubt they draft a QB (something they should of done in good QB classes, like last year), if they sign Darnold they can wait until the later rounds, if they miss on Darnold then who knows.
You never know if someone will emerge as a gem, it happens occasionally like Purdy drafted round 7, but I just don't have any confidence that will happen and with Darnold they could win enough games to miss out in the 2026 QB class unless they move up, which JS seems dead set against since they traded away RW. It's an expensive move but seems necessary to me, just not in a poor QB class. JS better not move up this draft for a QB or I'll lose my mind.

Heavily incentivized contract with a low cap hit?

Nick Bolton signed for three years 45m, Jones will get somewhere slightly less than that.

Looks like E Jones is staying in Seattle. The numbers just went across the TV: 3 years, total $33M with $15M guaranteed. Solid.
