Sure seems like signing Darnold is what they hope to do. The cost is a question, heard they think 35 million per would work and likely have had feelers out at the combine on the price tag. Course that could turn out not to be his price tag, then what? I always think yuck when Darnold is mentioned but compared to settling for Cousins , Rodgers, Trey Lance etc he's sounds a bit better. I don't think there is any doubt they draft a QB (something they should of done in good QB classes, like last year), if they sign Darnold they can wait until the later rounds, if they miss on Darnold then who knows.
You never know if someone will emerge as a gem, it happens occasionally like Purdy drafted round 7, but I just don't have any confidence that will happen and with Darnold they could win enough games to miss out in the 2026 QB class unless they move up, which JS seems dead set against since they traded away RW. It's an expensive move but seems necessary to me, just not in a poor QB class. JS better not move up this draft for a QB or I'll lose my mind.
I'm against spending big money on a Sam Darnold cause team isn't ready to compete. Drafting one in the second or third round is more ideal being on a cheap contract and can battle Howell in camp. Or let Howell run with the offense and probably end up bad which is fine since that puts the club towards the top of the draft for a better chance at QBoF. The main key is having as much cap space as possible to sign players when the time is right to make a legit run for a SB.

Not against that idea, but doubt the Seahawks staff finds that appealing because likely leads to more losses.

I get the staff wants to win but they need to be realistic as well spending big money on a QB for 3yrs isn't a smart play considering the team isn't ready to compete with the amount of holes to fill.

What ever Vet QB they bring in and they WILL bring one in, is just a bridge thats all they are. It will be a 2 or 3 year deal with no huge commitment. Geno could have been that guy but he wanted 40+ Million and thats a non-starter.

I'm open to Justin Fields on the cheaper side yet I get the feeling Jets will over pay for him.

I would take Fields over Sam. I just think a mobile QB like him would be a better fit for a bridge QB as you build the line and want to set up as a run heavy offense. Also the money invested would/should be much lower. Also Fields hasnt played bad in bad situations thats for sure. Yes he hasnt been great but he has been good some times, you can see the talent there but he needs to grow.

I am so glad to see DK and Geno gone. Seattle got incredible value out of both of them. A 3rd and 2nd in return? Incredible.

And btw, DKs best years are over. He's done. Guy now has a recurring knee injury, whines like a little bitch... lol. He did some good things here, but it's over. As for Geno, to get a 3rd for him, WOW. Thanks Pete.

His play in Chicago/Pitt were night and day. Bad coaching and serious questionable moves from the FO didn't help him much but in Steeler land Tomlin and his crew were able to get him to produce good numbers. First couple games getting used to the system than his final 3 or 4 games were solid play. I truly believe we have a very good group of coaches here that can work with Fields just get that feeling Jets will be paying more than what I'm looking for.

And the Jets will 100% ruin him. He will never become anyone playing for that poorly ran Org. This is when his agent needs to understand the situation but for agents it's all about the "Now" Money and their commision not the players welfare and future. If i was Fields I would be like " Get me to Seattle".

This was in the Seattle times:

Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times is reporting the Seahawks offered Smith a two-year deal that would have paid him his sought-after salary range of $40-$45 million per year. Instead of the team deciding to move on from a player, it turns out it was the other way around.

Seahawks think they have a good core and with the right moves can compete. We shall see, but they are going to try to find the best alternative to Geno immediately and if they offered Geno that sort of money they'll make Darnold a offer. now another team may top that offer.

The fact that a 17yr old is running a muck and giving advise tells you all you need to know on how sunk in the North Jersey swamps that franchise is.

I would have to read the entire details of the contract if Seattle was willing to give him that type of money. Glad Geno passed on that.

Geno and DK were guys that maybe could've gotten you there with the right supporting cast, but we never had that right supporting cast. Neither of them are going to take over games and lead you to a Super Bowl.

Sell when the stock is high... A+ grades so far for Seattle this offseason. A bridge QB and a WR who is coming off his worst season with another injury on the same knee netting a 2nd/3rd round pick? lol.. that's day 1 stuff.

lol ridiculous.

I mean at this point just draft guys and let them leave after their 5 years is up.... and spend the money on every other position on the team without hesitation.

the Salaries of these players will ruin Football. Ticket prices are all ready completely STUPID! $400+ for a ok seat and a drink and food or close to $1000 for a couple to go to the game. Many diehard fans can't go to games now because of the cost and the stands are filling up with comp tickets from business men lol.

When ticket prices out pace your fan base you see the stadium fill up with visiting fans.
