Sorry to hear that for him. Nothing wrong with wanting to take care of those that took care of you. Until you stop taking care of yourself.Herm Edwards was asked about this. He coached him in college and said the guy had all the talent in the world to be successful. Two things though caused him to be a bust in the NFL...
1) He had too many bad people surrounding him wanting a piece of the pie. Sometimes players want so badly to support their family and friends that supported them over the years and sometimes those people see an endless piggy bank and it ends up becoming a huge distraction for the player.
Obviously 1 & 2 are intertwined, at least in this case. If he were motivated to put in the work he would have ignored the noise of his family and friends and put in the work. They killed their cash cow, because he let them.2) He said that Harry thought of himself to be too good and didn't put in the work when he got to the NFL. He thought his incredible talent was enough. If a 1st round pick busts I would say most times it is either injury or this problem right here where they have never had to work for being great and never quite figure out the entire NFL is players that are the best of the best and talent alone doesn't make you successful. I can only think of a handful of players that their talent alone was enough...Randy Moss for example could skip watching film every day and still be a HOF player.
