There are four more weeks in the season and while the Patriots have the most brutal schedule, nothing is guaranteed. Then again, the Giants and Raiders could easily win one or two and the Patriots could be sitting at #1 when the dust clears.

Cleveland has a bunch of picks. An extra third from the Bills, and extra two extra sixths from the Vikings and Bears. Problem with them is that they will all be at the end of the rounds. So they might be willingto give up their #8 and both third round picks to jump to the top and grab Shedeur Sanders. That would move the Patriots to #8 but give them 4 picks in the third round. Feast or Famine?

If they end up with #1, I would say trade back for someones 1st this year and 1st next year with sweeteners. 2nd round pick next year or first in '27 as well? Why stock up on multiple late round picks in a weak draft when you know the rebuild is a multi year process?

How would you feel about keeping#1 and taking CB/WR Travis Hunter? Who just might be a generational football player.

No. Trade back. But that depends on FA and how they strengthen the team before the draft.

I would hate keeping #1 and taking Travis Hunter for a few reasons.

1. Playing both ways in college is not the same as doing it in the Pros so I do not see that happening.

2. We have a number one CB already so I would not want to take a CB that high.

3. I do not see him as a legit #1 in the NFL, The Buffs played a real easy schedule and he looked great among bad teams.

4. You can not win in the NFL if you cannot win in the trenches. The ideal situation would be trade down not past eight or nine. The get best LT, DT and Edge players. After that I would look to safety then a legit number two CB.

It's not pretty and the experts will be losing their minds, " OMG New England did not get a WR". The WR Corps is developing and there is a legit chance with a full offseason Polk could improve.

We also have FA to address WR and as I stated I would target a RT and C in FA

"For right now, we're just kinda working him at center because it's a new progression for him," offensive line coach Scott Peters said about Strange. "Absolutely, he'll play both. But the thought was to get a ball into his hands and see how he looks."


Some evaluators pegged Strange as a likely NFL center ahead of the 2021 draft. And though the 26-year-old showed major strides at guard before injuring his knee, Strange could see snaps at center after he’s cleared to resume practicing.

“Yeah, that was always a possibility when we drafted Cole,” Mayo said when asked about trying Strange at center. “He did have that flex to be able to go in there and snap.

It's hard to have empathy for people making millions to play a game, but would you rather have $96 or $100 ?

When you take in the rest of the taxes, would you rather have $84.50 or $92.40 on every hundred after federal taxes?

A $10 mil/year NFL Contract will leave $6.3 after federal taxes by simply taking off the max 37%
Mass takes 15.5 % of that leaving $5.323 mil.
TN takes less than half of that at 7.6% leaving $5.8212 mil.

That's a half a million dollars. Per year. Anybody leaving a half a million bucks on the table is a fool.

The Pats are at a disadvantage to sign players for the same money, they need to pay more to cover the higher cost of living.
Yes, heat, fuel, taxes, etc just like the non millionaires have to account for.

And this is exactly why the Patriots will NOT open their books wallets up...

Yeah I don't know about comments made in the heat of the moment. Would you rather have a center that played center all through college or a guy guy you gotta train? I say get a true center and LT if Strange comes back at LG that may be the answer to the problem

It's a toss up between him and Campbell IMO. Point is get one of them there is another name out there Wyatt Millum could also go high

I do believe that the smart thing to do would be to draft either of them even if hey sign a veteran LT before the draft. Then again, is Wolfe more interested in looking as good as his father or making the Patriots good?

I, for one, thought the picked Strange as Andrews replacement.
He did play center in college and Belichick had him play center at Shrine game......

I do not remember him being picked as a center I specifically remember him being picked as a guard and playing guard in college. As I stated before he is taller than what the normal NFL Center is and it did not appear the Pats had any inclination to play him at center. Again. for me, draft a LT put Strange back at LG then draft a center, the kids from Bama and UGA both look good and could fall to us in round three. I won't banter back and forth on this, it's futile.

Nothing in an NFL draft pick is a guarantee. If you sign a shit ball player in free agency, you at least know he's a shit ball. If you sign a shit ball and "THINK" he's the next best thing to sliced bread, then you have a problem.

The Patriots passed on ALT and he was outstanding last night against the Chiefs. Does anyone remember who else were the top LTs in the last draft?? (Don't look them up...that's cheating on yourself) Are they starting??

A 25, 26, 27 year old offensive lineman who started elsewhere and is a FA, is a pretty good bet to be better than Vedarian Lowe or anyone else who's been stuck on the NEP left side this season. Draft an LT to learn and practice behind him and maybe, just maybe you have a future LT and a trade chip.

Well shit why draft at all?

The draft is always a crap shoot, so is taking an FA. Just b/c a player worked in once scheme does not mean they will work in another. And hell either of them can blow a knee out. You draft and hope for the best, you got them on a five year deal for a lot less money and you have five years to determine their skill level and what you are willing to pay to retain them.
