With the loss on Sunday (not unexpected) Packers offseason begins.

Some news from Packers exiting locker room on Monday...
  • Tom Clements is retiring
  • Nixon wants to be "CB1" and does not want to return kicks any longer
  • Alexander very much hinting he is not coming back
  • Kraft with some interesting comments.. "we need to wake up"
Depending on site... see 2025 cap space from $51M to $63M. Expect they make a splash again in free agency this year.

Packers free agents for 2025 - Would like to have McManus and Whelan back, other than that no "must resign" names on list IMO.

If team friendly deals I would consider:
  • Myers - thought he had his best year... but also think Packers drafted in 2024 to replace him so do not expect him back
  • E. Wilson - good backup at RB... but really liked what saw from C. Brooks as well and he is on roster for 2025
  • Slaton - liked him vs run and depth on DL
  • McDuffie - good depth at LB

Good stuff. Alexander is a brittle bitch and the Packers should move on without him IMO. Agreed on your choice of FA's but would add Myers to that list. Hope the splash they make in FA is getting a rush edger and perhaps a stud CB like Budda Baker.

Yeah, I’m so over Alexander he reminds me of Jalen Ramsey, has talent but too much of a mouth runner, doesn’t put team first and like you said, hurt all the time.

I think an edge is one of the most important things they need. I feel some of their losses would have gone the other way if there was more QB pressure quite frankly, especially the week 17 Vikes game.

I'd like Myers back as my top priority. McManus and Whelan were good enough to keep; would rather that than go back to the drawing board on both positions.

McDuffie and Wilson round out my 2nd tier wish list. Brooks and Wilson both provided quality support/rest for Jacobs and I imagine Wilson will be "cheap". I would've had Slaton here, too, but his dumb roughing penalty in the 4th Q depreciated his value. We need to get some smarter players on this roster.

Otherwise, it's "take or leave" on the rest of those guys for me.

Dillon is gone. No discussion.

Stokes is a former first round pick who has been either hurt or nothing special. He's got talent, but hasn't really put it together on the field - generating only 1 INT and 14 PD in four seasons. It's still possible he could be a quality player, but I certainly wouldn't want to give him a pay bump to give him another chance. I honestly think both he and Alexander don't want to be in GB, so I expect neither will be next year. Maybe they can trade Alexander to Carolina for a couple draft picks before the draft so they don't have to cut him and eat any dead cap on him.

Any chance Packers can get something in trade for Alexander?

Agreed want him out of Green Bay... he is no longer vested in teams success.

Great player when healthy and vested... but often injured recently, no longer seems to be team player and had incident in Carolina and big contract (Packers eat signing bonus).

He's still got a reputation of being one of the best CBs in the league - even though there's not much proof of it from this season. I'd like to think Gute is gauging interest and possibilities at least. I know I would if I was in his shoes.

To me, I don't care who leaves of those mentioned. Nixon isn't what or who he believes he is, Myers is ok at best, but I'd really like to upgrade the OL all over. Edge rusher is a concern, but I'd prefer guys that don't run past the QB and constantly and leave an outside rush lane for the QB yet still get pressure on the QB to panic throw. Jaire has a "buy in" problem, so if they can get something in return, I'd send him packing. They do also have the draft, and getting guys there seems to be the MO, which I'm fine with as long as they don't take the 5th and 6th best guy off the national champ team, ala Wyatt and Walker. That screams lazy scouting to me.

What I'd really like to see is a roster of 53 that honestly believe they should be starting and the rookies that come in pushing them because they believe the same thing.

One other thing I'd really like to see is Willis lighting it up in the preseason with another competent #3 and see if they can turn Willis into a trade asset. Say or believe what ever you want, but I really like that kid's style. No matter what was going on, he seemed to buy in and made plays when the plays were there. I'd like to see the Packers get back to being that type of competent and respected organization. Is that or am I wrong?

Thought OL was pretty good other than lack of depth.
  • Stayed healthy (probably most important)
  • 2nd in league in sacks allowed with only 22 (Bills 14, league avg 41) / Packers #5 rushing team per game
  • Think Jenkins and Tom are both very good
  • Rhyan had 1st season as starter and thought he got better as year progressed and should have a lot of confidence going into next year
  • Wallace at LT serviceable... quite a few penalties... but for 7th round draft pick I cannot complain
  • Myers at C had his best year, but doubt he is back unless he really wants back and signs team friendly deal
Hopefully Morgan comes back from injury motivated.... have Monk and Glover also from 2024 rookie class... Monk I liked in preseason, Glover had 3 penalties in limited time after Jenkins injured. Hayes, Jennings and Hill other 3 under contract.

Assume some draft capital will be used on OL if Myers not back... unsure they make big splash in free agency for OL.

OL continuity is an underrated aspect of football success. This year's OL performed well together and are still young. I'm heavily "in" on Myers because he has performed well and he's got good chemistry with the rest of the youngsters on that OL.

Can we please for the love of God and all things holy figure a way to acquire an actual legitimate WR1? I'm so sick of the pretending that Doubs and Watson are #1 guys. They're not. We have a depth chart of decent 2 and 3 guys.

Also if I never hear Jaire's stupid name again I'll be better for it. What a pussy.
