Seriously, at this point it makes way more sense. If not, like mentioned earlier would screw up their compensation for next year. They are setting up for a massive ability to rebuild next year if they do this correctly.

Exactly. Steelers aren't winning shit this year, and need to be in a position to draft a QB NEXT year.

There are all of 2 guys in this draft and a lot of backups at QB.

So don't blow money on a stupid AaRon swan song to ruin that.

I don't really think Rodgers will have the effect we want him to have. He might be Ben-like enough to override Tomlin's fears and get us back to the playoffs where we can get embarrassed again and be out of reach for a QB.

Tyler Shough (my QB2 in this draft) needs to be come a priority. They probably need to move back into the 2nd round to make that happen though.

Of the available options I REALLY REALLY REALLY want Winston.

We're gonna suck. Why not have fun sucking? Winston airing it out to those receivers? Sign me up. He'll keep those divas happy but still find a way to lose and put us in position for a QB next year.

WINSTON FOR QB1. Lets make it happen.

I could get behind this, but we KNOW that would go against everything Tomlin wants his QBs to do. Tomlin is ultra fearful of his QBs turning the ball over, to the point he doesn't allow them to throw over the middle of the field.

Winston is the anti-Tomlin

IF I read another Mason Rudolph comment online I might go find the person and smack them. :D

As for Winston I would be fine with that but honestly the heap that is left is no better than Wilson and with Wilson they won't lose any compensation picks. So I think I am more and more onboard with this so that the 2026 draft is 100% rebuild.

So we lost out on Fields... Didn't have a serious hat in any other race, and now we're caught with our pants down looking down the barrel at an overpriced QB that brings a boatload of drama.

They want nothing to do with Wilson apparently. Which I'm ok with that. But I fear it means we are going to overpay for Rodgers. $45m per year, really?

Overpaying for Rodgers and possibly losing that 3rd or 4th round compensation pick for next year is just awful management on their end.
I am not sure why they don't want Wilson, I guess in Tomlins mind he thinks Rodgers can keep his .500 streak alive. We all know DK can run down DB's when they pick Wilson off, so that risk is gone.

Thank god that early Arthur Smith rumor about him liking Jones is not officially dead.

Investing all that money in DK and losing a second round pick with no QB in place doesn’t make much sense right now……

Nope it was very poor management. Sadly we know they won't full tank this season since they gave up that 2nd for DK.

I am 100% sold on keeping WIlson, who cares the record this year and go into next year's draft with all those picks and do the right thing to get a top QB in 2026.

I laughed at myself for the bolded part because we know Tomlin's ego won't let him go under .500.

It could have been that the DK move was a hopeful means to convince Fields to stay at their price. They seemed to put a lot of eggs in the Fields basket.

or

They are just tired of losing out to WRs and settling for the like of Allen Robinson & Van Jefferson.

And it looks like they replaced Robers with Malik Harrison? Or was the Holcomb resigning for the Roberts replacement and Harrison is depth OLB?
I think the plan is to have Holcomb back as the starting Mike LB. They love his leadership. Queen & Wilson are the future of the Will LB. We know they love their more athletic LB, because they offer better versatility.

But it still doesn't make much sense given Holcomb's injury history. Roberts signed for cheaper than Malik Harrison. And judging by the film on Harrison, he's a serious downgrade.

I'm hoping Harrison is just a ST ace & they don't need him to play much on defense.

I come back from my 2 month long sabbatical in Dubai and I come back to DK Metcalf as a Steeler and we might be signing Aaron Rodgers???

I'm a bit torn on the Metcalf addition. We are just starting a 2 headed ego trip I fear. This might turn into AB and JuJu all over again. Pickens is already a loose cannon and Metcalf can be a but of a problem too. However, in terms of talent on the field, love it. Love it love it love it.

As far as Aaron Rodgers, I'd rather bring back Big Ben.
