Woah. First of all, you can call me out, I am not thin skinned. Second, you make some fair points. I didn't word my message well. I was trying to say that some guys fell last year that probably should not have if people were taking the best players available, and that that looks like it may happen again.

Last year it was because the draft was strong at QB, OL and WR and a lot of people with needs at those positions made runs on players. It wasn't all QB, though you saw quite a few go high. There were six QBs taken in the first round last year, and then none for the next two rounds because they all got gobbled up. Some of those like Nix proved to be good picks, others were more questionable.

Bottom line is that if you re-did the draft, you would see some of the defensive guys go much higher, not just the Eagles guys but players like Jared Verse.
Yeah that’s always the case, teams will take the positions they need not always the best players available. But I think last year’s QB class has the potential to be great, all of the 1st round QBs that played showed a lot of potential. Really lots of guys from last year’s draft had good rookie years, look at all of the receivers from last year as well who had stellar rookie campaigns.

So, you're saying some guys fell last year because teams weren't taking the BEST player available? I'd like to see your source on that. But okay sure, let's go with that for now...

Last year it was because the draft was strong at QB, OL and WR and a lot of people with needs at those positions made runs on players. It wasn't all QB, though you saw quite a few go high.

So the BEST player available was QB, OL, WR... (and of course Bowers as a TE).. I said the same thing. I don't know what we're doing here at this point.

There were six QBs taken in the first round last year, and then none for the next two rounds because they all got gobbled up. Some of those like Nix proved to be good picks, others were more questionable.
Well no shit? I wouldn't say they're bad. Nix and Daniels sure worked out. McCarthy was ready to start until he got injured (and is now ready to again), Maye and Penix looked good with limited playing time. Williams... eh... jury is out on him.

Bottom line is that if you re-did the draft, you would see some of the defensive guys go much higher, not just the Eagles guys but players like Jared Verse.

And really here is where you lose all credibility... "IF YOU REDID THE DRAFT." Seriously, this loses you all forms of credibility on this forum. First off, that's where you lose the argument in general... but what's even more funny, not a lot of the record amount of offensive rookies in 2024 (for 1st round) - were bad. None seem like busts yet.. Nabers looks like a HOFer, Harrison/Odunze certainly did their thing, few of the QBs could be the future, Bowers looks like a HOFer, the OL did well.

You maybe picked the WEAKEST argument for 'defensive players would've gone higher' from what 2024 produced. Not a LOT... and OL are overvalued atm because teams can't seem to get them.

And then you miss the OBVIOUS biggest issue I have with your post. You just flat out gave WRONG INFO. You said, "Because teams traded up for offense - namely QB, Philly got their picks." Nobody traded up last draft (Minny to NYJ just doesn't count). They just took players. And many of them might be the right picks. You're very much twisting the story into what I called you out for to begin with.

I mean all good man. I mostly agreed with your post I wrote a mini quote novel on. It was your first post that just triggered me.

Last year did not have 'mediocre' QB prospects (this year does), but teams also weren't trading up. Now I DO agree with your posts that every team seemed to be going ballistic with drafting offense last year, where D did fall a bit.. but there was certainly justification for doing so as last years offense talent was insane and still is on track to fulfill that.

It's just really hard to compare last draft and this one. This is like the most uninspired draft since 2009.

A headache because he might be really good at 2 positions? Oh, no. ......seems like many think he can and will play both. My guess if we take him will be a full time WR and maybe 30 or so plays as a DB.

IF a team told him he is only playing one position what happens? He likely plays one position....what's he going to do, quit? don't believe all the rumors you hear.
Even Hester started his career as a DB, and it was not that he was not good at it, they just figured he would be tired and not have the explosiveness as a punt returner.
Then it got to the point they did not want to pay what he was worth to just be a punt returner, they put him on offense to justify his pay. Its been 10 years since Hester was doing Hester things. I had my share of believing or not believing all what was said last year with Williams. Pretty much not even close to a guy coming into the draft as the top prospect for 2 positions, Just think he deserves more than a 5 year career.

Yah we have about 3.5 more hours folks. Enough time to plot how to tell the girlfriend/wife you have plans this evening, since you know she didn't take you seriously when you said you were "watching 3 hours of the NFL draft."

It works all the time...
