why's the league so in love with markets like Cleveland, SA and NO?
They’re poor markets that the league needs to manipulate talent to in order for them to stay viable in a business model that’s dependent on maintaining 30+ markets.

Got me to thinking. So there are 3 teams with a 14 percent chance. So the odds of one of those teams winning it in 2 different years is (.014 x3 x .014 x3) x 100 equals 8.4 percent. So what happened is about 80 times less likely than one of the 14 percent teams winning it in any 2 years. Stats are fun.
wouldn't 14% be .14?

Until they televise the lottery in real time, there will always be suspicion about the NBA rigging the lottery.
Can you explain why the other representatives for the teams in the room would be OK losing their chance to win?

So if it's rigged than Silver and his associates go to these team(s) every year or whenever they believe it will benefit them and bribe them?
Nope.
So eventually over the years 10-12+ management of teams know of this process and just keep quiet...I guess that is the logic here.
Wrong
Even former employees that are no longer in charge or have moved on. Everyone is hush hush...that doesn't seem very reasonable. Rumors spread and it only takes one guy. The fact there is no story or rumor for the last 30+ years about this doesn't support your claims.
Tons of rumors have surrounded this process going back to Ewing to the Knicks.
I am not saying there is NO WAY it is possible very it is extremely unlikely.
And im saying im not willing to take that leap of faith when we know this is an organization with no integrity and that they’ve been compromised before.

They wouldn't know, it's secret just between the commish and some particular team(s) but then the list of team(s) change from year to year. So eventually everyone just has to be hush hush. Considering this has gone on for 30+ years I would think at least half the league knows about this rigging. Nobody has said a word. The greatest secret ever.

that just deserves a ya gotta love this forum.

They don't really care much about Sacramento among others? And why help out a market like Dallas?

wouldn't 14% be .14?
Yes so it’s actually like 170 times more likely for one of the bottom 3 to get the number 1 in any 2 years than what happened with New Orleans and Dallas

lol

I'm going with logic. As in, it would be illogical to risk destroying the league and losing the billions of dollars it makes every year just to make sure a certain player goes to a certain team.
That’s a leap of faith that leans on assumption. Logic is devoid of assumption. Logic is based on what can be proven.
You have zero evidence and zero logic...but believe it anyway.
I haven’t said that the lottery is definitively rigged. You’re saying there’s no chance it’s rigged. That’s a leap of faith.
That is going on faith. But that's the beauty of any conspiracy theory...it's inherently unproveable so you just respond over and over with..."you can't prove it's not happening" while never providing evidence to prove it is.
This is why I haven’t taken the same stringent stance you have.
I don't need to try to prove a negative...it's incumbent on those making the claim to prove it's happening.
You can’t prove this process is secure.

My claim is that the NBA is a corrupt league and therefore they can’t be trusted and they deserve all of the rumors and innuendos that surrounds this process.

That scandals get exposed because people can't keep their mouths shut. If people could keep their mouths shut...no one would know about Donaghy.
You didn’t prove what you set out to prove.

With this, I agree. It's also why I would like the league to return to worst team picks first and going in order from there.

The lottery hasn't stopped anyone from tanking and most fans support their team tanking for a season or 2, especially if there are any generational type talents that will be available.

The lottery just gives the tinfoil hat crowd fodder for their conspiracies while not accomplishing the stated goal.

The league was trying to make Cleveland the best team in the league. Yeah I am so fucking sure...the league hates Cleveland. No chance in hell it is rigged...there is a .000000000000001% chance it is rigged. Cleveland gets nothing handed to them in sports. Lets be real people. End of thread.

Evidence says that the NBA is indeed a corrupt entity. You’re more than welcome to believe whatever you want but the fact remains that the NBA stands alone as the only one of the 4 majors with a gambling scandal that changed outcomes of games since the Black Sox scandal in the early 20th century.
How recently have NFL players been suspended for point shaving (I'll give you a hint, it's less than 20 years).
There is going to be guys trying to game the system anywhere money can be made. The NBA shut it down. It does not mean that the system is corrupt as a whole or that it is corrupt currently.

If they aren’t rigging it, then they shouldn’t have a problem televising it.

However, they refuse to do it despite all the conspiracy talk.

A league that has nothing to hide will take the necessary steps to show it.
If you televise it it's not too dramatic as the first number combo they pull is the 1st pick.

They were sanctioned for placing bets, not rigging outcomes.

Actually, it does prove corruption. One of the men involved is still reffing games.
