Signing Evan Engram has changed my draft preference. I would like to see a combo of:
  • Omarion Hampton
+
  • One of these tight ends to develop - Helm, Arroyo, Fannin, Ferguson
  • After that, BPAs of DL, WR, RB, LB, OL

Happy to see others are now jumping on the Hampton bandwagon.

Typically I would hate to see this because it typically means the player get jinxed but it worked with Nix last year.

He's one of a group of guys that caught my eye, once I started looking this last January. I've been sifting through draft projections/predictions to see who might be available at our picks.

Before I forget; the CBS sports website has a really nice draft tracker that they run in real time every year. It gives you a lot of options. I was using it and called the Justin Simmons pick way back when.

He would definitely add something that has been desperately missing in the ability to go beyond what the play is blocked for with his power and contact balance. I think he finished 2nd this past season in yards after contact adding over 4 yards more after first being touched per carry. Bronco RB's last year I think were dead last in that category.

The other fun thing with him will be the opportunity for him to run behind a competent OL. He took a ton of hits in the backfield because the blocking up front in NC was sporadic at best. I think it was something like 44% of his carries last year he was hit behind the LOS yet finished 2nd in the last decade in YPC when this happens.

I also wonder if one of the biggest issues I had when watching him was at times he did not seem patient enough to wait for his blockers to set up the play. Wouldn't shock me that is mainly because he has that idea of "I'm going to get hit early on this play so I have to hit the hole fast if there is any chance of success".

He will never be known as the best receiving option by any means, but he isn't a complete slouch in that area either.

I'm seeing him pop up for us on mocks. Doesn't mean the team is thinking that way, just that Loveland is rising above our pick in some consensus mocks. He's impressive.

Were not getting anyone we want in rd 1. Prepare for DT or Oline.

I wouldn't be shocked if every team in the AFCW went RB. Going RB early if anything prevents someone else in your division from getting your guy

Damn near every team in the NFL may grab a RB at some point this draft. Value at RB is gonna be off da hook!

I was just looking at the list earlier and I saw Jeanty and thought 'yeah, commonly mocked to the Raiders' and Hampton who is commonly mocked to the Broncos. Chargers look like they might need a speed guy. Chiefs probably need a thumper (Kansas and Kansas St RBs seem like the range they'd do it, imo). Scattebo would be really popular.

You guys are in an extremely unpredictable draft range in rd1, imo. I was making a big board for the Bucs in your draft and my casual rankings look a bit different than what Im seeing online.

Yeah- 100% agree focusing on the AFC West... All 4 teams could grab a RB early.

With possibly 3 even grabbing two during the course of the draft.

I still like Denver's depth at RB and people are probably tired of me saying it we have the guys behind the guy that we need but as deep as it is, it is still possible we could grab another later on.

Payton seems to love Jaleel McLaughlin who I think he over used a bit more then I would like to see last year. Badie had a great PS (again) and then right when it seemed like his PT was going to pick up he got hurt. Audric Estime is different then any other RB on our roster and I really think he ends up being our short yardage guy who can also catch and block so he holds a true role in this offense.

Blake Watson is a real wild card to me. I think fans often forget or are unaware of what type of role he could play in Denver. He was one of the top pass catching RB's in last years draft. I think he needs to get better in pass protection before Payton really trusts to use him more.

Either way after we add one early on in the draft it will be interesting to see how camp shakes up with the rest of them. I haven't exactly been real giddy with Jaleel the last two years after showing us a lot in PS both of the last two years. I think he is gonna have to step it up a bit in year 3 and prove all over again that he can hit the home run for us because we have a lot of RB's outside the "top guy" that we need and it is possible we add competition later on in the draft with another RB given the depth of it this year... With Watson growing more in year 2 he could be knocking on Jaleel's door. He has more size the Jaleel and catches the ball REALLY well but Jaleel has Payton's heart... He is a workout warrior and 100% effort guy. It is going to be interesting.. Badie is Badies we sorta know what we have there and while he doesn't appear to be "the guy", he appears to be solid. Not sure we can store him on a PS for a 3rd year in a row although with the depth of the RB draft you never know.. Everyone is gonna have some toys in the pantry this PS at RB.

I'm honestly having a tough time understanding why getting someone for the DL is a bad thing. I get they might not be a day 1 starter, but decent chance they would still be in for about 40-50% of all defensive snaps because you want to keep those guys fresh on the field. Throw in knowing we have Allen, JFM, and Roach all hitting FA next offseason should be a big position we need to find some future starter ability.

OL wise I get it wouldn't be a popular pick, but keeping that OL strong in front of Nix is very important. Powers will need to be replaced sometime in the near future and honestly wouldn't hurt to get a nice upgrade at Center either.

Two of the biggest draft connected people have Tet McMillan falling to the Broncos or beyond in their latest mocks. I would be more than happy to see him end up a Bronco. Sutton and McMillan on the outside with Engram in the slot. Yes please.
