I wouldn't mind seeing us bring back Dowdle and taking a good back, be it Jeanty or any of the top 7-8 kids
I think they should rebuild this thing right. Use the draft to take the very best talent available in every round. I don't care if it's a "need" or not. Accumulate as many good players as you possibly can. If you end up loaded at one position, just trade the guy making more money and fill needs with what you get in return. Use FA to fill holes in the roster. And I'm 100% down with you're talk of having two good backs. I really think Dowdle deserves another 2-3 year deal. He could have had 1500 yards this year if they used him the first half of the season. And its real likely a RB is the highest ranked player on the board in a round because the spot is so deep

it seems DT is 5th round deep in talent according to a couple opinions I've recently read.

I shouted my love for Skattebo after I watched Zona St and Zono BUT...9 outta 10 paid opinions say RB is also deep, and they have three or four backs ahead of Skattebo after Jeanty at 1

They need to draft two backs and clean house in the RB room. Jeanty round one. Skattebo in round 3. That would be a scary duo
With the issues this team has I'd stab myself in the eye with a fork if they took RB in round 1 and 3 not to mention what it would say about the confidence in the RB they took at 12 to follow it up early in round 3 with another one. Dowdle ran for over 1,000 yards and wasn't even the guy for all of the year. Dowdle plus another back sounds good to me.

Skattebo is behind some guys but it's a deep spot. I think with Barkleys success they are gonna fly off the board though

Man I disagree. I know we have holes but im not passing a stud to replace what should have been done in FA. But I am sure they will pick for need as you say. I just think it leads to the C- drafts we have had lately

My yearly rant about safety difference maker.
a review of my guy.

2024 - Cooper DeJean at pick 40
2023 - Brian Branch at pick 45
2022 - Jalen Pitre at pick 37
2021 - wanted corner rewarded w/Parsons
2020 - and the one that hurt the most
Antoine Winfield at 45

Starks at 12?
you could do a lot worse, but with a clean medical, I'm thinking OT Josh Simmons or WR McMillan if he were to drop as some suggest HE COULD.

At 44 South Car's Nick Emmanwori FITS FOR ME.

perhaps
UT kids aren't high on my list most years. I do like the corner, Barron.
Barron is a stud, I think he would be worthy at 12. Mukuba is a ballhawk, but what I like is he will light your ass up. I've seen him take on guys 30 pounds bigger and flatten them

So you want to take the stud RB at #12 because he is a future All Pro and then ALSO take another RB at pick #76? All of this knowing we don't have a 4th rounder? I don't get the idea of coming out of the first two days of the draft when we have 3 picks in the top 76 with 2 RBs and one other player and then not picking another player until pick #148. I also don't see why we wouldn't resign Dowdle and if we do drafting two RBs early would be horrendous with only one football in the game at a time

No, I want two backs to split the load unless we get Jeanty. If you take Jeanty, he can carry the load with Deuce to or Luepke to give him a blow. If we don't get Jeanty, we need to resign Deuce and look for a back to pair him with in the draft.

I did read it. I agree with Arlington that they need two backs(unless they have Jeanty, who should get 400 carries if we take him at 12). There is definitely a world where I would take 2 backs if we don't bring back Dowdle though just not a 1st and a 3rd. But we likely need 2 one way or another. The only backs under contract are Deuce and Luepke

The point being discussed was about the first round and the 3rd round, not just taking 2 backs.

Yeah I get that. No, not for this team the way its put together. They have chosen to ignore FA and patch holes with picks which leads to the current, predictable decline in record. But if they were spending money in FA like other good teams and could line up and play football before the draft. It wouldn't be the end of the world to double up anywhere. If Dowdle didn't come back and you went from no backs to, say, Ashton Jeanty and Treyvon Henderson, you would essentially have the same thing the Lions have in Gibbs and Montgomery overnight. That wouldn't suck. But for this defective team, no. We will probably go the route of replacing Brandin Cook with Luther Burden in round 1. replacing Osa with a 2nd round DT, replacing JLewis with a 3rd round corner, and Dowdle with a 5th round back and fill the rest of the roster with practice squad guys and scream all in

He is not an elite back like jeanty. If he is there, I would not be upset at taking him. Dowdle is a nice back, but not elite.
