Men's Draw:

Sinner's Quarter:

Sinner vs. Wawrinka 3rd round: Not sure if Wawrinka can win his 2nd round match. But if he does, Sinner in 3 vs. him in the 3rd round.

Tsitsipas vs. Medvedev 4th round: Tsitsipas is dangerous, but Medvedev most likely wins in 3.

Sinner vs. Medvedev QF: Medvedev in 4.

Alcaraz Quarter:

Weird that Alcaraz is the 3rd seed, and not better.

Alcaraz to the SF.

Zverev's Quarter:

Taylor Fritz vs. Zverev QF: Fritz beats him for the 2nd major in a row. Fritz in 3.

Djokovic's Quarter:

Thiem vs. Shelton 1st round: I'd like Thiem to become a top player again. But it's rare for players to get back in the top 10 after such a drop off.

Shelton in 4.

Djokovic to the SF.

Medvedev vs. Alcaraz SF: Medvedev has a decent chance at winning, but can't go against Alcaraz right now. Alcaraz in 4.

Fritz vs. Djokovic SF: Djokovic is 9 - 0 against Fritz, although sometimes these matches are competitive. Djokovic in 3.

Alcaraz vs. Djokovic Finals: Alcaraz in 3.

Women's Draw:

Swiatek's Quarter:

Swiatek vs. Andreeva 4th round: This would be Swiatek's toughest opponent so far. I'll take Swiatek in 3.

Swiatek to the SF.

Rybakina's Quarter:

Rybakina vs. Wozniacki 3rd round: Not sure if Wozniacki has gotten a big win at a major since her comeback.

Until I see more, I can't pick her. Rybakina in 3.

Osaka vs. Ostapenko 1st round: Osaka can lose this in 2, but I'll pick her.

Rybakina vs. Osaka QF: Not sure if Osaka can really get this far. If she can, then I'll pick her to continue. Osaka in 2.

Gauff's Quarter:

Gauff vs. Svitolina 3rd round: Svitolina in 2. She's been really consistent the past few years.

Svitolina vs. Azarenka QF: Not sure if Azarenka can get this far. But if she does, I think she'll be the nice story of the tourney.

Azarenka in 2.

Swiatek vs. Rybakina SF: Rybakina usually wins this. But I'll take Swiatek in 2.

Osaka vs. Azarenka SF: Oddly enough, I'll take the player that has never won the USO, Azarenka. Azarenka in 3.

Swiatek vs. Azarenka Finals: Why not go bold. Azarenka wins her first US Open, and does it as a mom. Azarenka in 2.

I screwed up my Womens Predictions, I forgot to look at Sabalenka's section.

And I had Osaka getting to the SF above, not Rybakina.

Correcting it now.

Sabalenka's Quarter:

Sabalenka to the SF.

Swiatek vs. Osaka SF: Osaka is going to go deep in a major again soon. Osaka in 2.

Azarenka vs. Sabalenka SF: Sabalenka is the better player, but I am just going with the surprise run by Azarenka. Azarenka in 2.

Osaka vs. Azarenka Finals: I still get the all mom Finals. Azarenka in 2.

I doubted Tiafoe from the Shelton match onwards. I couldn't buy into a player that was this inconsistent for the majority of the year.

Shelton also kept hitting too many balls 3 feet long.

The Wozniacki 4th round match was fun, but wish she had won.

They do a good job on the US Open.

However I'm still disappointed with their reduced Australian Open coverage. Starting about 3 years ago, they moved a lot of the early round late night (in Australia time) matches to ESPN+, instead of continuing their coverage on ESPN 2.

Which means it's inaccessible to a lot more people.

I'm not sure why. Because in USA time, that's about 12:30 AM - 4am. They show poker tournaments or SportsCenter instead. I'd think live sports (even if some people DVR it) would be better than prerecorded poker.

Who do you think wins their respective matches between Tiafoe, Fritz?

None, one of them, or both?

Tiafoe had Dimitrov on the ropes but let him off the hook. He should have won the second set but now he has a match on his hands and it may be slipping from his hands slowly.

I guess I was wrong. Tiafoe with the early break in the third set. Leading by 4-2.

Tiafoe’s net game is terrible! They need to make tennis interesting again by reducing the techs on strings and frames so players can approach the nets again. This fear of the thundering passing shot or the bulletlike shots to the body is what causes players to stay back and continue points that should have ended a long time ago. Tennis has become a boring slugfest. It’s like either its clay court tennis with long rallies until someone sends the ball out or dumps it in the net or someone playing real bad tennis for whatever reason and the point ends on an error.

I think Taylor Fritz is a little better at the net. But I don't know if he can do it on hard courts.

I liked Mardy Fish and Mischa Zverev, Sasha's brother, because they went to the net so often.

some good tennis on tonight...but they start way too late. I may be able to watch 2 sets of the Sinner-Medvedev match.

the Tiafoe match last night took forever to get through that first set.

I didn't think Pegula would pull it off last night. Great comeback!

She's got a tough final ahead of her though

I wish Pegula wasn't 30.

If she was 28, I could see her being a strong player for 4 - 5 years.

But at age 30, I can't recall any man or woman who made multiple GS Finals starting at the age of 30.

Hope I'm wrong, but this might be the only GS final she makes. Just based on no one else making one so late in their career, then making multiple.

If Sabalenka wins and goes on a late night talk show like Kimmel, I hope she gets asked if she feels like an idiot screeching like a banshee when her opponent is silent.

I wish tennis would outlaw that shit. An effort grunt is OK but constant screeching should be banned.

Feel sorry for Fritz. I knew he wasn’t gonna win but rooting for him anyways! I could never get to like Sinner for whatever reason I have no idea, like Djokovic he is hard for me to root for . Americans denied once again. Brings back memories of Fed beating the US players at the American soil. He was at least likeable due to his game and charisma.
