It was him? Yikes.
Yep, Blake took his word over Yanetti & Co. (they were pushing for Zegras - which wouldn't have been better), which has led me to believe that Blake's philosophy to identify certain types of players in the draft has caused the team to Butt-F*** the draft repeatedly since Blake took over...

Sad, but we can identify talent over the current staff

Not that I trust Yanetti any more than Blake, 2015+ not a lot of quality NHLers developed especially 2017 to date.

Two regimes but same drafting and development department, you can look at it in one of three ways:
- under Dumbo he may have had input but Yanetti made the calls resulting in a lot of home runs
- under Blake he's overriding his head of all things draft and is calling all the shots with Yanetti as the puppet
- Yanetti has gotten too comfortable in his position, he's almost as untouchable as BLuc it seems

A track record like he's had for the last 10 years, I'd have canned that guy already especially after the 2019 debacle alone. Been 5 years and they don't have anything of significance to show for it.

Dude, I bet a group of us in my garage with a keg, cigarettes, a dozen pizzas and snacks in my garage would end up drafting 4 NHLers in one draft alone compared to these mooks.

Think Futa working in tandem with Yanetti kept Yank's perspective more in check, maybe?
But the general philosophy (which comes from Blake's "leadership") is the reasoning behind players like Kupari, Turcotte, Fagemo, Kaliyev have been chosen over grittier, thicker more character-type prospects that Dumbo was more attracted to.

The problem as i see it, they draft based on hype instead of watching and actually scouting. The glaring truth is that you could accidentally draft better than this. Just think of how much we have waited for guys to develope, get pumped up by the organization put with top NHL players and end up looking like beer league guys....meanwhile guys drafted in front of every single LA top picks are NHL ready and contributing right away.

These lines are crazy. Maybe I wasn't paying attention to the last game.

Mark Stone and Pietrangelo both active of Vegas. Stone opens the scoring in the first few minutes.

If Vegas takes this series, I see BIG discussions about the return of the 1-8 seeding coming back.

And they have to actually look at the cap circumvention stuff.

Carolina didn't let Islanders get a shot for first 15 minutes. Somehow Islanders up 3-0. I check shots and it's 32-12 Hurricanes. They score 2. Get 3rd with goalie pulled. Scored right after. Empty netter. Up 5-3. Rattled off 5 straight.

Very ouch. At least there's been some life here, but that reversal hurts a lot.

Vegas takes Game 1 over Dallas. Dallas did come back and heavily outshot them, but Vegas is the real deal (Obviously). Loaded team way over the cap, and defending champs.

Panthers Lightning game was good, Lightning down 3-0. Florida just playing solid hockey, physical and Bobrovsky making some timely saves.

Wouldn't count them out yet - see the 2014 Kings who were recently champions and coming off a WCF appearance in 2013 - but that's a tough hill to climb. Stamkos also a GIII UFA and unhappy no contract has really been discussed, if he hits the market that'll be nuts.

The Vegas IR guys making a difference in that series - Stone, Pietrangelo, Martinez, etc - and guys brought in using those LTIR dollars (Hanifin) also pitching in, Vegas up 2-0.

Something has to be done about that situation, they're icing like a $95 million team. Both games have been hard fought and I can't see Dallas rolling over. I think this one goes the distance.

Haven't watched much of the Jets Lanche, saw The Legend has 2 assists. Any update on him and the other ex Kings?

Cats make very short work of the Lightning, series done 4-1. Stamkos now the looming question, will he be resigned or will he hit the market? I can't see him in another jersey but he took a team friendly deal last time he was set to be UFA. With how they're capped and built though I think we've seen the last of him as a Lightning. Hard to believe he will give them a break, even harder to believe they were B2B champions just 3 years ago.

Caps out but we expected that, I don't even know how they made the playoffs with something like a -30 goal differential. Reminds me of the 2003 Ducks minus the fluke run fueled by ungodly goaltending of JS Giguere.

Kings will most likely be joining this group in 48 hours...
