But they should be picking 1 so they can maybe start to turn things around.

I agree but just as big of an issue Imo is teams like the hawks getting 1 this year

The Cavs getting multiple #1s far off the 1-1 pace

Lock in the bottom 6 or so at least

All solved by eliminating the lottery.

Also you remove all the conspiracy theory.

Been saying that since they started with the lottery.

All it does is feed the narrative that smooth brain conspiracy theorists spew about the NBA "fixing" outcomes.

i'm in favor of anything that doesn't give the spurs duncan and wemby

total bullshit there.

but also would like a way to avoid operation shutdown tanking.

You can't embarrass yourself into 1-1, you have to earn it.

Hell, do 6 teams 1/2 seed get a buy so the worst records pick no worse than 3/4....

Pistons boards are full of conspiracy theorists, because we got 5 three years in a row now and they are just bad at math. With only a 14% chance at #1 and 47.9% chance at #5 getting #5 3 times in a row is not much more unlikely (10.99%) than getting #1 once. But math is hard and conspiracies feel good.

I’m far more frustrated that we don’t have a coaching and training staff that can keep our young guys on the court, teach them to shoot or play defense, or even play guys to their strengths than I am about our draw in the draft. We will just ruin whomever we get unless there is complete house cleaning.

Add 2020 and you get into single digits.

Consider how inconsequential the guys who went in front of you were, dropping from 5 to 7 in 2020 basically just saved you money lol

Just the mathematical side of how bad their luck has been save 1 year.

I strongly believe tanking is only a problem because people call so much attention to it.

Any time a team is bad they get accused of tanking. Most are just bad.

It isn’t the problem people are trying to make it.

Let the worst team pick 1.1 and they probably won’t be the worst team again next year.

And that is the real problem. Teams that perennially suck.

That is true on the last line

Teams do tank

But maybe not the whole season

The blazers shamelessly tanked post all star break 2 years in a row

Most don’t do it all year like the sixers or thunder have done

But you still need a disincentive from even that

I guess. I think it is all wasted energy.

Lottery isn’t disincentive though. Teams going to rest players and play young guys down the stretch no matter what.

I honestly don’t believe there is an answer that makes sense.

You constantly complain about the 3 point line being made for TV, which is incredibly silly.

The lottery is made for TV. In fact, IMO TV is the main reason they still do it.

Wow dumb, it's all about players at the top level. If you don't have the top players then the league won't help you with foul calls.

You need the refs on your side in this league and they won't be on your side if you keep drafting at 5, a meaningless spot in the draft where you put your weakest cities. On purpose.

It's a league wide issue. Without the benefit of star calls every team without one is at a huge disadvantage.

So you have to suck until you get one so the league will help you win.

Sam Hinkie explained it well, but most nba fans aren't smart or educated enough to read and understand so the league keeps tricking the fools as they will.

Oh I don’t disagree with you

That’s why I got lottery tournament

You need to keep guys sharp all year to try and land the top pick, bad teams with lots of guys making peanuts can win and get an extra pay boost

And coaches aren’t fired over ping pong balls…at least they have a shot to fight for their job

This might be your smartest post ever

I’m baffled how many people won’t admit that the nba doest treat all players the same (like they absolutely should as the rule book doesn’t say it’s a travel except when an all nba player does it…)
