He helped himself at the draft combine and at the Klutch sports day. He could go early to mid 2nd round.

The Suns only have their 1st (#22) this year and are interested. I don't believe they can buy picks being over the 2nd apron, so he could even go 1st round if they're serious.

They could trade down, multiple times

If they didn’t flatten the cap it would be 40m more today and things would be fine and back to normal

I'm not so sure. The aggressive teams would still spend to and beyond their limits whenever possible.

So?

You’d still have the second apron

It would just be a better, more appropriate number

Damn the draft just got crushed by some surprising returnees and bubble guys who probably should’ve stayed in

I'm surprised Judah Mintz didn't go back. I doubt he gets drafted and he's only 20.

It would just unbalance the league quicker. I don't think any of these teams have remorse until they're stuck.

Lesson learned; don't overpay someone to make them change their mind. If they say no, move on.

Don't disagree.

But Monty is fine being known as a POS for the rest of his career.

Dollars don't mean everything.

I don't think that would reset anything. Irresponsible teams would max everything out for those few years chasing rings.

If you told the Suns owner no cap for a few years, he's signing everyone until they force him to stop.
He would give out non-guaranteed contracts to balance the risk.

It is unbalanced. Just how the league wants it so they can hype certain teams. I'm talking about fixing the league.

The purpose of these rules is to balance the league, to get more parity.

Instead of doing that they broke the league. Which is what the discussion was about.

You can't just put 5 good players together that fit, you have to have the singular star that gets the calls so the league can hype them in their hype machine. Their hype machine is more important to them than parity, balance, depth, quality, the sport itself, etc.

They're just giving strength to their salary cap. Wealthy teams were able to spend far beyond the cap previously, creating an unfair advantage.

The Lakers are one of those spendy teams, so sure it would be easier to lift those limits. Doesn't make it best for the league and more limited franchises.

The cap didn’t even keep up with inflation

Terrible job by everyone
