Funny little thing I just saw……

Looking up the comp picks formulas wondering if Cam Robinson was going to change the Vikings math (he doesn’t). But what I didn’t realize is that Vikes are currently in line for a 3rd round pick for Darnold……and here is the funny part….a 4th round pick for Daniel Jones.

He literally never put on pads for us I don’t believe. Certainly didn’t take even a snap. Now these are obviously just someone projecting and not the be all, end all determination. But that seems a touch ridiculous if true.

No I think that’s true because they signed him off of the practice squad late in the season. I think that’s enough to trigger the compensatory pick situation for you guys.

The compensatory pick for Jones was discussed about 2 months ago. It's a current loophole in the NFL system. Hopefully the NFL will adjust the criteria this offseason so that the Vikings don't receive a pick for him. That's not an anti-Vikings sentiment but more a case of preventing an abuse. The Giants could have buried Jones as a game day inactive on the 53-man roster. Instead they helped their guy out. Another team shouldn't receive a Draft pick for that.

Even as a Viking fan, I would be fine without the pick for him. Doesnt seem right.

But maybe change it AFTER they award that pick as a way to make up for us being a 14-3 team that had to go on the road for the playoffs. :heh:

I hear you, but I don't think there's anything to make up for. The highest ranked wild-card team having a better record then the lowest ranked division winner is pretty much the norm. I remember the 7-9 Seahawks winning the NFC West in 2010 and hosting the 11-5 Saints. This season wasn't any more egregious than that. As I indicated earlier, I would be in favour of a wild-card team with 3 or more regular season wins getting the nod over a division winner, but it's very low on my list of NFL grievances.

Smith's commentary doesnt make a whole lot of sense without context and I think he intentionally leaves context out just to say provocative things. I saw his breakdown of Xavier Worthy this year and I thought he did a good job of showing his issues but a lot of those were in the first half of the season. I think he obviously made some strides as the season went along which he seemed to account for with his grading but not his commentary.

His ranking of T-Mac seemed fine. His commentary was bad (Burden commentary was non existent)

Watching the tape, Burden really shows a lot of wiggle and explosion I don't see from the top WRs.

We're seeing two different evaluations of TMac on the internet. One is a guy that should be going #4 to the Patriots and one that falls to around #20 to Denver. Those are two extremely different values for a position thats in high demand. I think the other player we're seeing like that is Sanders at QB.

He gets open, but it doesn't seem to be from precise route running. At the pro level, is he going to be more like Keon than the upper echelon guys?

Is it an abuse? It's smart use of the rules. If they do change it, it should come into effect the following year and not affect the Vikes IMO.

There was a simple fix to being behind the Lions in the standings.....beat the Lions.

Im not sure how unbiased I can be in this process but I'd look at Mizzou QB Brady Cook's traits chart (12:42) according to this random guy who watched all of the QBs:

tl;dr he is basically the opposite of Shedeur Sanders. Tons of athletic ability, no accuracy. Mizzou's backup QB basically couldn't run the offense at all when Cook was hurt. There is a high probability that Burden is a better pro than college player. Mizzou's other WR was a 5 star (Wease) and he just just generally didn't do much. Mizzou's offense generally seemed to be more successful at running the ball which weirdly they don't get top prospects at the RB position and still churn out extremely successful college runners.

I think when you're drafting any WR outside of schools like LSU, USC, Ohio St, Alabama, and maybe Ole Miss or Georgia that bust rate is way higher than people like to think. This applies to pretty much every top WR prospect except Ebuka.

I have that bias issue with McCord.

admittedly never heard of him......but guessiong we'll need someone to replace Bitonio after 2025 season.
He was a 1st round pick I believe but never really lived up to expectations in Chicago, maybe he can do something in Cleveland.

just saw 2nd...but still pretty high pick. I'd feel better about him with Callahan still here but what the hell?

I remember Brett Kollman thought he was a badass coming out of college.

Kollman is wrong a lot.
