Yes.So did Philly pay Barkley more money for what he did, or for what they expect him to do going forward?
And they halved his salary cap hit for 2025.

okYes.

I was wrong. There is no immediate cap savings in the restructuring and extension. Essentially the Eagles would have had a choice in 2027 of renegotiate or cut the player because of a cap hit in that year. This kicks the can on that decision down the line.
I bet this also frees up cap to be spent this off season.
I think it’s more about extending his money over a longer period of time and kicking the cap decision down the road another year. I think the big take away here is that after one season Barkley is being treated like he’s Brandon Graham, Jason Kelce, and Lane Johnson. They’ve set the table for Saquon to finish his career in Philadelphia. So did Philly pay Barkley more money for what he did, or for what they expect him to do going forward?
Actually, that was a false report. I saw this yesterday.Yes.

This actually makes a ton of sense. I was trying to piece together what the Chiefs were doing with their oline and it never made sense with Thuney making so much money. Suamataia got LG snaps last year and they obviously liked it enough to reconfigure the oline.Bears trade for Thuney. Putting in a lot of work on the oline. I hate it
I know it makes sense, I just hate the Bears working to fix the oline. I was kind of hoping Ben Johnson would go full Josh McDaniels and believe the oline and talent around him in Detroit was insignificant to his success, it is all about his system! This actually makes a ton of sense. The earlier speculation was that Trey Smith was going to be the guy. Thuney was likely cheaper for the Bears but also older. Ben Johnson is clearly one of the smarter offensive minds in football imo.I know it makes sense, I just hate the Bears working to fix the oline. Bears have a ton of talent at skill positions, he gets an great line and Bears will be so good.
What was the compensation?Bears trade for Thuney. Putting in a lot of work on the oline. I hate it
Ask and I shall receive haha
Hear these things a lot...worked way up, guy is dropping. I guess in this case could be combine performance but often we hear these things while the player isn't showing anything to teams.
Actually, that was a false report. I saw this yesterday.
He was due a league minimum salary of $1.17M, a signing bonus of $11.33M, and a workout bonus of $250K. Only 1 fifth of the signing bonus will count towards the 2025 cap. He has another $1.5M due, which is likely money earned from performance targets reached in 2024. I don't see how Barkley's 2025 cap figure can be reduced. If the signing bonus is increased then the cap figure will increase by 1 fifth of the increase. Fair play to the Eagles for paying a star who outperformed his contract, but obviously this is a risky way to do it.

Would not mind at all if he could stay in the state.
