The hubris of this guy.

He waits until they give Grant that big ass deal to try to force his way to one team only.

That team has 2 great assets, neither of which would be included in any deal.

What exactly was Portland supposed to do?

Dame said over and over he wanted to be traded so he could compete for a ring.

Well, he got his wish.

You don't get to change your mind because you are gonna have to compete in the snow instead of the beach.
He still won in the long run. He likely get a ring this year or next while all Portland likely get for him is 2 additional first round picks & a few pick swaps which isn't a great return for a player like Dame. Guess they didn't want to go full rebuild

Blazers operated in bad faith if what the article say is true though. I understand you don't want to be tied down to 1 team but considering what he's done for the franchise, the least you can do is have a serious negotiation.
I read the article and don't get that from it.

The Heat had nothing they wanted, that was realistic.

Why in GAWDS name would they allow Dame and his agent to suppress the market?

Did you forget that his agent was actually calling teams to discourage them from making offers?

They made it absolutely clear that they were going to take the best offer.

If you get Jrue, you win too.

Sometimes you don't get what you want.

But, you get what you need.

Holiday has Heat culture written all over him.

Miami’s offer wasn’t serious

I think it's pretty obvious Jrue will likely go to Miami or the 6ers.

Clippers will collect their cast off on the cheap.

.....unless the Celtics serve up White or Williams.

Can't see the Blazers taking multiple years of Brogdon when Lowry and Harden are expiring.

They could have got another offer through if they wanted to. I think they were trying to reap the rewards of a player push. In the end it was one that couldn’t be rewarded and the league is better for it.
Here is all I needed to read to lose any sympathy I had for Dame.

Why would the Blazers keep him in the loop when his agent was doing shit like this?

He didn’t give a shit about what would befall the Blazers.

He just wanted what he wanted.

Portland made it clear through the media it would take the best offer for Lillard and wouldn't be limited to just Miami. In return, Lillard's agent, Aaron Goodwin, relayed to teams that Lillard would not be content if Portland traded him to a team other than Miami.

"I wanted everyone to understand that even though we didn't have a no-trade clause, a provision that's not afforded to Dame under the CBA, I was going to do everything in my power to control the market and help get my client to a place he wanted to be," Goodwin told B/R.

Yup, and who would have thought that cadaver Silver would have found a backbone and realized he wasn’t going to get a better chance to make a statement?

Yep. That B/R nonsense is Dame running the spin machine. He wanted out. He doesn’t want to be seen as a guy who wanted out. He’s not different this is what many stars have done and will do. But he doesn’t want to be seen that way. He’s fallen victim to his own ideas and a standard he wanted to hold himself to. In the end, he didn’t do that. This is all him trying to control the narrative.

And in all fairness Silver had given him no reason to think he couldn’t, or anyone else for that matter.
