I think this progression is so funny.

Laker fans were excited when they traded for DLo.

Then, some on here (including you) we’re begging for him to be benched in the playoffs. And now you are disappointed that they are looking to resign him.

There isn’t another option right now. You let him walk all you are getting is tax savings. This is your guy.

Now, invest in him, support him and hope he plays better in those big moments.

Letting him walk gets you nothing.

Sign him to as friendly of a team deal as possible to retain that trade chip. Since the rumor is 2 years, that makes me think this is for a S&T. The value for front loading a contract for a longer deal (3-4 years) would be to counter Reaves' upcoming poison pill contract.

4 games is not enough to exile him. Prisoners of the moment. He was a huge part in the Lakers push to the playoffs. It certainly wasn't Bamba or Beasley, and Vando was mostly a defensive impact. Funny how Rui gets a pass because the Lakers could just sit him as a depth player, but because Russell played and struggled he's suddenly a cast out for so many fans.

Sign and trade Russell for some depth and bring in CP for vet minimum. Clear upgrade over Russell.

We gotta maximize the Bron window.

He is no longer a clear upgrade over Russell, sorry.

I would much prefer signing and trading him rather than just resigning him.

And as a fan I am allowed my opinion. Like all of us.

Sure, but your opinion is wrong lol. :heh:

So, you want to get rid of a guy because he had a bad series...

and replace him with a guy who is likely wouldn't have been available to have a bad series?

You said it yesterday....Reaves and Russell made mistakes in the Denver series a vet like CP wouldn't have. Mainly with the ballhandling.

Reaves in particular isn’t a pg

That’s just putting him in position to fail

Two year deal makes russell an expiring deal next summer and if the lakers don’t burn their first during the season have a big contract and a first to make a deal with

Would be nice to have both.

When D Lo goes into the fetal position, Paul can step in and right the ship.

But, if it’s one or the other?

Stick with the younger, less broken option.

I also said that they played fairly well and Lebron seemed to trust them.

Also, I said that if the Lakers bring in CP3 it should only be on a vet min.

I would want him on a vet min in addition to having Reaves and D-Lo, not to replace either of them.

Couldn't think of a better guy for D-Lo to possibly learn from.
