The super max exists as a way for smaller market teams to keep their players. At least that is how it was sold. If it no longer accomplishes that then it needs to go away.
It also seems that the no trade clause is being more beneficial for the players more than ever. They can demand a trade but then block a trade to a team they don’t want to play for, it seems. Players basically handpicking their team.

Well I believe Beal was the only player in the league to actually have one. I mean why fight that battle when you can have one anyway just by saying you won’t go somewhere?

Yeah I mean it really doesn't matter at this point. KD and Dame will just demand regardless

So then he isn’t getting traded to Miami lol. They should just keep him. That would be awkward

Tell that to the fans, who need to be thought of a lot more than they are in all of this.

Fans just need to be smarter than to want their team to hamstring themselves by signing players like Beal to mediocre rosters that have no chance.

You are right. We need to tell them all not to want that.

Just sets back the timeline for when they might have a chance to be competitive again.

Takes time to build in the NBA for most markets.

Miami can make that happen

Herro goes for a first

Finagle okc protections

Jovic and Martin

It’s really not that hard

And again, that was a colossal mistake by the Wizards to give him that leverage.

This is why my idea of a lottery tournament is better

It provides a disincentive for purely intentionally being awful….to a certain point

Yeah, I wouldn’t hate that.

Kind of incentivizes teams to tank the play in games though.

So maybe keep it to the bottom 8 or something like that.

More likely it’s a harden deal imo

But

Tucker
Kork
House
Melton
Springer
1st

I believe that gets you there

But you have literally zero bench
Wait what? If it’s Harden then it’s a one for one. The other scenario? Man I’m not giving up the entire bench for Lavine. I don’t even know how Chicago has enough roster to take all of that anyway.

Oh yeah, it’s not all 14 lottery teams. 6-8 tops

Yes. Harden (likely 3 team with lac) or it’s the entire bench (minus Reed) for lavine

I mean, that’s a killer starting 5…but yeah, it’s not ideal depth wise

I was thinking the LaVine deal would be for Harden. Not sure about picks. I don't really like it for either team.

Lavine $40M
Pat Will $10M

for

Harden $36M
Tucker $11M
Salary filler
Harden has a trade kicker and I’m honestly not trying to give up PJ Tucker. This team is short on defensive wings. Harden Lavine would be one for one.

I included him bc he goes with any Harden trade. They are butt buddies

I like your idea of the three team with LAC. That’s intriguing. That also looks like a Chicago blowing it up and Vucevic was signed to trade at the deadline for more assets and really a salary slot? I don’t know.

If Chicago is blowing it up then this makes a lot of sense. DD is expiring too

Yeah,
More like we’re getting more out of him after giving up Wagner and Howard to get him
