The super max exists as a way for smaller market teams to keep their players. At least that is how it was sold. If it no longer accomplishes that then it needs to go away.

It also seems that the no trade clause is being more beneficial for the players more than ever. They can demand a trade but then block a trade to a team they don’t want to play for, it seems. Players basically handpicking their team.

Well I believe Beal was the only player in the league to actually have one. I mean why fight that battle when you can have one anyway just by saying you won’t go somewhere?

Kind of incentivizes teams to tank the play in games though.

So maybe keep it to the bottom 8 or something like that.
