I was thinking about the possibility of a Fournette or Blount? Just a big back to give stevenson a spell. I just don't like going into the season with Stevenson and Strong as the 1-2.

All these reports about looking for more offense. Hmmm maybe the Pats see it as a weakness also?

Meant to say Bount type. Just a big bruiser type. Don't need a lot of carries or production. Mainly short yardage.
Maybe they can pickup a Kevin Harris type back... Oh wait...

Lots of guys bulking up.
This is good in that it can aid in injury prevention, as long as they are not just adding mass to the point it slows them down or even makes the muscle bound.

I just read that he’s a RB/WR. Perhaps just a camp body but you never know. He kind of looks like a patriot.
Another player for gadget plays. BB likes versatility. Maybe he fills the 3rd down back role?

I do like his size and tenacity.
6-4 or 6-5 depending on who you read. 230#. Saw a little footage on him runs like a TE/RB likes to put his head down and muscle a few extra yards.

Not only a #3 or #4 he's also often injured.

Yep typical BB player

From a couple years ago: (2021?)

"A 2019 third-round pick, Hurd has yet to make his pro debut due to back and an array of knee injuries. The current concern is tendinitis in his knee, which will sideline him for at least the first three games of the campaign. Even when (or if) he's able to return, Hurd may have a tough time climbing a depth chart populated by Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Mohamed Sanu, Trent Sherfield and Jauan Jennings.

Well...headline says it all, "attempting a comeback"
He's never played a down and been out of football for 2 years.
Low risk/high reward/camp body.

Not done yet.
Bill typically lets players he respects go early to find jobs.
He also tells some to keep their phone with them.
Some players, like Pitts, need to practice under a watchful eye before you can evaluate their ceiling.
Others are depth only and waiting for a better option to show up......

Now Judon can practice. He wasn't participating in any contact because he would only get $2M even if his career was ended.

Patriots did a great move and bumped him up to $14M guaranteed.

If, big if, Judon makes it through this season without injury, he's due a $6M paycheck next year. He'll be 32 next year.

He better play his ass off if he wants a final big payday. If I were the Patriots and all goes well, I would offer to rewrite the present contract, add a year, maybe two at $18M per. Guarantee $18M and if he gets through 2024, guarantee the $18M if he signs for 2025 for an unguaranteed amount.
If he won't do it, wave good bye.

Man, I appreciate your posts and your contributions to the forum but you seem to always take the negative angle on things.

Judon earned the money and he’s already playing his ass off. The guy is in the mold of the stereotypical Patriot. He brings it every day, is a leader, and loves being challenged by his coaches. We’re lucky to have him and hopefully he finishes his career in NE with a championship.

He earned his salary and would have earned $11M if he had taken the field and played. If he'd been injured in the preseason, he was due $2M and that's it. His contract was front end loaded and he signed it happy as hell. He's in the final two years for $11M in 2023 and $6M in 2024. That was the contract that he agreed to play for. Yes, he's been great. He got his bucks for playing great. So far in 2023, Judon has not been on the field for contact or any offense against defense. He wanted more money. THE Patriots obliged him and gave him a bump to $14M that can move to $18M if all of the incentives are met.

Will he honor his contract next year, if he's not injured this year?? He's going to want whatever the best paid Edge guy is getting. I hope he he gets 30 Sacks and is DPOY. Then he can step up and get his contract bumped again. He's 30 and will be 31 during the season. You want to give him bump next year or a bump and a three year extension at $100M with $60M Guaranteed?

If he has a decent year, I have no problem with giving him a bump next year too. I'd carefully measure all the stats before giving him another long term contract.

Yep. I am Mister negative. In pro sports, big money does not equal superior performance after the fact. Especially after 30 years of age.

I have found that after 72 years of age posting deteriorates rapidly - especially in cranky old men!
