Did you live in Austin in the 70's?

The only time I've ever been to Austin was to attend the state basketball tournament in '66. Now it's just a place to drive through on the way to Houston/Galveston/Beaumont/Port Arthur.

66? Was that the TJ state game?

Onward thru the fog was found on many bumpers back in the day. Oat Willie's head shop was a happening place.

It was when my small home town (Gruver) went to the state tournament. I was only 12 at the time.

One of my fondest memories of that trip was walking back to the car after the first game, we stopped at a field to watch some intramural softball practice. The SS was talking to the 2B, the batter hit a line drive straight at the SS. He went down screaming, "God damn. Right in the nuts!" We watched him wallow around on the ground for awhile, laughing our asses off.

What an absolute LOL at the Rvens. How can this even be possible?
I read $14M SB. $1M base and $3M in incentives. So at least $15M. I guess you can say at least it’s only one year and the Ravens WRs group stinks even with OBJ, but still…

glad we dodged that bullet. With Jerry I was tiny bit worried.

The Ravens got a WR, but still no qb.

To get 15 million not including incentives after two major injuries, and 4 years since his last 1k season, for a guy going to turn 31 is an impressive get.

It's ridiculous is what it is.

Stats since 2019 (that is 4 seasons....and these arent good stats for 4 years).

WR1
163 catches 2370 yards 18 TD's
One major injury. 26 years old.

WR2
141 catches 1891 yards 12 TD's
One major injury. 30 years old.

WR1 is DJ Chark and signed a 1 year $5M. WR2 is OBJ and got $15M.

The Ravens could have added all 3 of DJ Chark, Mecole Hardman and Paris Campbell for the same price they paid for one OBJ.

Though the last time OBJ played, he was tearing it up in the Super Bowl

A. The Ravens have to overpay to get any WR to come here with their offense.

B. It's a one year deal. If it doesn't work you move on. Worth a shot if you ask me. Especially since him and Lamar are buds.

C. Who cares how many crap WRs the Ravens could have gotten for that cost. They need one bona fide threat at WR in their offense. OBJ has a chance to be that.

I disagree in the assessment of him as “one bona fide threat”. At this stage in his career he’s a 3rd WR on a plus passing offense.

One bonafide threat...

77-1052-6
74-1035-4

2018 and 2019. How long ago was that?

"In his prime" at age 26 and 27 he was already nothing special and worse than when he was 23 and 24.

You disagree that the Ravens need one bona fide threat or that OBJ has a chance to be that?

My bad. I agree that they need to improve their receiving corp. I don’t think OBJ has a chance to be a bona fide threat. As a 3rd WR he can catch about 45-50 balls and about 4-5 TDs. As the primary WR who draws the extra coverage from the defense he’s a failure waiting to happen.

What the Ravens need is someone who commands a little attention from the defense. That WR doesn't have to have a pro bowl caliber year. That WR just has to be a threat. The Ravens are not looking to move away from a run heavy offense that loves to utilize the TEs when they do throw.
