give it a rest. there are at least 3 LF'ers that the Rangers should be interested in that would probably sign for a 1-year deal and 3 or 4 SP's too
Knowing we are not in contention this year I suspect they have someone in mind next year.

i'm sure they do but what does that have to do with this year. sign a Pham or Rosario to a 1-year deal and then sign the guy they have in mind next season. same scenario with a SP

Why when we have Calhoun Garcia Calhoun Taveras. No reason to spend more money

I wonder if Kershaw wanted the one year deal to reconsider coming home in a year?
This is from Jeff Wilson:

Yes, the Texas Rangers were in the picture, but because the chance at a World Series isn’t necessarily in their picture for 2022, Kershaw re-signed with the Dodgers on an incentive-laden contract with a base salary of $17 million.

Manager Chris Woodward, who was a Dodgers assistant before coming to the Rangers after the 2018 World Series, might have disagreed with Kershaw’s assessment of the Rangers’ chances this season, but respects the decision.

Woodward also respects how Kershaw handled the situation, quickly phoning friend/Rangers general manager Chris Young with the news.

Apparently, Kershaw told Young something to the effect of “don’t be a stranger” next offseason.

“He said he’ll definitely think about coming back,” Woodward said.

all in all, best for the Rangers. More youngsters will be here in 2023, and Kershaw isn't exactly a lock to make it a full season this year already. Rather see if he's truly got anything left in the tank before adding to the payroll.

One spark of optimism for renewed hitting is the batting coaches added. Eli White in his video states he has revamped his swing. Bet this is something that bodes well for Garcia

yeah we've got a few guys who we need to see what we have with them, Garcia and White included. Need to run those guys out there and thin the herd we have instead of signing more new guys to 1-year deals for no reason.

If we don’t sign long term guys I would like to stick with the young guys as well.

Should make for a nice Left Handed DH vs RHP
.840 OPS vs RHP
.550 vs LHP
Should pair with Solak at DH
Solak vs LHP
Both have versatility as well

I really don’t mind this. I’m inclined to agree with Kershaw’s assessment in that we won’t compete this year. Definitely not if the front office is only bargain bin hunting until opening day.

kershaw can chase a ring. We can get a look at more young guys. We can see if Kershaw has anything left and if we make great strides on the development front, we can get Kershaw next year when it makes even more sense.

guys like Kershaw don’t want to help build things. They want to be the missing piece or the cherry on top so to speak.

There is no Folty rumblings, but looking at the last few deals the rangers made, signing him would fall in line with those type of signings. It would be a typical JD move to bring him back, hopefully not a CY move.

I really don’t want him back. im not gay or anything, but he was nasty looking and I’d rather not look at him for 40 games a year.

it is what it is but going with Calhoun, Garcis, Calhoun scenario would put the worst possible outfield combo in baseball on the field that even Garcia couldn't save. putting Taveras in CF, Garcia in RF with 1 of the Calhoun's in LF and the other at DH is a little better

Was not suggesting that scenario just saying we have four OF plus another or two possibilites so we don't need another.
