Liked the signing and few others but I still feel like we were fleeced for Cooper.
Jerry and Stephen may be the worst ever in the NFL at WR trades

Gave up two #1 picks for Joey Galloway
Gave up a 1st, 3rd and 6th for Roy Williams
Gave up a 1st for Amari Cooper

Traded Cooper to the Browns for a 5th.

Yikes...

cool...sign Wagner now and the rookies on June 2. :thumb:
Man if they don't at least try and sign Wagner, it means Stephen doesn't give two shits about this season as long as his Christmas bonus goes up. He's going to turn this team into Yankees south. At least The Boss and Jerry cared about winning, no matter how bad they botched things

I don't really have the time to calculate the contracts individually, but this is from Spotrac.

2022 Projected Draft Pool Cap

Estimated cap dollars necessary to sign upcoming draft picks (not included in the cap figure yet)

So looking at the current cap space you have to subtract the amount the rookies will eat from the number.

Now depending on who gets cut for each rook that earns a spot ot will change the space.

O also see Collins is still counted under the cap as he's a post june cut, meaning Dallas clears 10M . Thats good news as it covers the rookies. So I will admit we have a little more cap space than I said.

So yes Dallas could afford to pay someone about 14M, but no rookies would ve able to sign until Collins contract cleared the books
Let’s say the cowboys sign a player with a $2M cap hit. So you add $2M and you subtract player #51 at $825K so it only goes up a little over a million. this works each time you sign a player and draft picks too. Our drafts picks will probably only count $5M-$6M against the cap.
Now you also had veteran minimum relief possibly in play. I don’t remember the exact amount but if you sign a vet to a vet minimum contract it doesn’t all count against the cap under certain circumstances but the savings are minimal and only on lower contracts anyway. This was done to promote signing vets. Washington may fit into this category. They have a lot of flexibility to sign FAs if they want. This won’t be an issue. They have a lot of cap space.

I get the sign and drop part of it, I also based my calculations on the vet minimum, I doubt ant signed for that.

As for the rookie pool I'm quoting numbers from spotrac, I'm not pulling them out of my ass.

Yeah I’m not saying they having any vet minimum guys signed this year so far just that it is another possible way to save cap space.

yes you may be looking at the salaries for the draft class and $9.6M may indeed be the expected salaries if we don’t have any draft day trades, but I’m explaining why it won’t add that much to our cap.

Lets sign Bobby Wagner, draft a dline stud at 24 and get nasty
I get that he lost a step but his lower salary will likely offset that. I just don’t understand how the team doesn’t see how much he can improve the team Immediately. Leader on a defense that desperately needs a veteran voice. Does things the right way. has a SB. Early down thumper that is great in coverage in the nickel. Immediately upgrades the soft part of this defense. And perhaps most importantly makes Parsons even better because it allows him to freelance and be an disruptive force that the defense has no idea where he will be from play to play.

parsons, Wagner and Cox in the nickel would just be unbelievable IMO

I love ya Schmoopy but that oline back up can come in round 2

we get Wagnor and a logical dline gut at 24 then Jerry & Stephen or injuries will have to destroy what lies ahead on D
well I certainly could be sold this bill of goods!
but I think we need to start improving starting Oline players. If we have plan for that in round 2 so be it. (& great)
but I am all for BPA trench guy in round 1. Offense or defense.

The Jones boys did destroy our oline depth

yeah, that & I believe Travis was our glue. Plus Smith is long in the tooth & I dont believe he will complete the season. Plenty of holes in the trenches to fill.

well they got the perhaps dumb ass talent from last draft and they sure as hell need to draft oline early

Sigh... He is absolutely horrendous. I hate this.

He is replacing that former Giants coach we had as an "advisor" last year. I thought the game plan on offense horrible. They better address the OL. We need a dominant LG and then use Zeke and Pollard.
