Anyone ever consider that he just might say, "If you don't trade me, I ain't playin' this year. I got a shit ton of money and I'll take a vacation."

No one is going to pressure him to do anything. They might beg on their hands and knees. Pressure him, hell no.
KD loves basketball too much to even consider that. I mean he isn’t even married. Basketball is his life, he is obsessed. Not to say others aren’t married and obsessed but he will never sit out games.

He may tell them to get him traded. But I have a hard time seeing him threatening to sit out until he is.

That’s insane

Oh well. That’s what happens when you have fugaze rules and prop up guys to 1st team All NBA despite not being one of the league’s 5 best players.

That has nothing to do with Tatum. He was one of the 15 best players last season. Even if he made 2nd team all nba, he would have been eligible for that max if he make another all nba team this coming season. He just needed to make 1 of the 3 all nba teams

Gotcha. I assumed a 1st team got him to a higher level for his stated max.

Good morning. Just wanted to say I love this thread and want to congratulate everyone for being so civil. I've never taken constructive criticism as well as I have in here. Thanks for all of your input. Please, please, please keep "Politics" outta here.

Not really.

Every single year, that super max $ figure is going to get higher.

Won’t be too much longer until an NBA player signs a $500 million deal averaging over $100 million.

Guessing that happens in the next 20-25 years.

Projecting anything that far out is a bit silly though. The Chinese overlords won't allow Amazon to pay NBA teams that much.

Every year salaries get higher. Don’t see a viable reason to suggest that would stop.

Of course the cap is going to increase but still ro compare Curry is the highest at $53M AAV at 33 years old. Tatum would get $60M/year at 25 years old. That is ridiculous for such a young player

With Tatum getting almost 60 mill if he gets 1st team....may be less than that.

Maybe 12-15 or so with the salary cap going higher and higher.

Do you think our society will be the same midcentury? That's quite a distant projection. The music business thought they had easy money locked up too until technologic advancements mortally wounded their copyrights. If TV money goes away due to a similar advancement in the video industry, what replaces those huge TV deals?

REPORT: LeBron James is expected to sign his extension with Lakers in “some form”, reports
@basketballtalk
. “Most sources NBC spoke with expected LeBron will go with option three — a 1+1 — but that he may take his time signing it. There is no rush.”

Sports has always been big business in this country.

If something replaces TV deals, that something will still provide huge revenue for the league.

So yes, I do think it is reasonable to project player salaries will continue to grow.

The only way sports salaries go down is if we have a rebirth of morals in this country. I think they are safe.
