Was the Brogdon acquisition to supplement a trade package or the necessary move to run it back while plugging their main hole? It seems they have a championship contender as is now; to send a huge chunk for KD seems a risk for the twilight years of KD's prime.

Any parallels to the Warriors getting KD fall short, as the Warriors didn't have to give up immense draft/youth capital since he was a FA.
Yeah, Boston has a young duo in Tatum and Brown that could be good for a long time.

Highly unlikely, just exploring possibilities with teams that could provide strong packages.
I know but even though he doesn't have a NTC.....they won't trade him somewhere without consulting him first.

If they did, he could just say I'm not going. He's that type of dude.

Could be either/or, IMO...

... one thing the Celtics are showing a willingness to do this season is dip into luxury tax territory... ownership is all-in to support a title run.

FTR: I don't necessarily think the Celtics should do it... but they could do it.

A return to OKC could be legacy defining, and they have SO much draft capital that can't all be used in standard uses. Would either side actually be willing though?

I don't think OKC is interested honestly. They wouldn't be a contender so why do it?

And KD isn't going to want to be surrounded by a bunch of kids and he isn't the mentor type.

He ain't getting out of this. He doing some time.

Those pics she posted were damning.

A long suspension in his future. Not that there is ever an okay time to do that but lord....talk about worst timing possible.

His unwillingness to part with first round picks was the issue imo
Only if one makes the dubious assumption that there was an issue.

The rock solid work of Danny Ainge is shown off in how rock solid the Celtics currently are.

The Celtics could propose an at least worthy of consideration trade package for KD centered around Jaylen Brown.
Seems like the best player they could get in any deal with a contender

He became a collector/hoarder. Waiting to see how OKC deals with their immense stock pile (and Houston with their chunk of the Nets')

Eventually you need to deal multiple picks (which okc did with NY). You can only have so many players on the roster lol

He became a collector/hoarder...
The only deal that, in hindsight, Ainge should done was for Kawhi Leonard. And even then, there were major character concerns circling Kawhi based on his last year in SA... so there's at least some defense of that balk.

I haven't heard of another good trade idea that he failed to engage.

That kind of capital creates opportunities, not just resolves those brought to you. The Celtics are stacked currently, but it took a long time getting to this point. If they don't get over the top?

He didn't mention Boston at all though, there may be underlying reasons.
Well he only mentioned PHX and MIA specifically. I’m sure he would be fine with a couple more teams…maybe
