It's like they saw Tyson Chandler being the final piece for the Mavericks a decade ago and forgot that Towns is not Dirk

He is a modern 5 for sure.

I worry about KAT and Gobert as a defensive pairing. That is a lot of shot blocking, but not a lot of lateral quickness.

Don’t be surprised if they are worse defensively this year after adding Gobert.

Right, he isn't a Bam type of defensive player. He isn't as good as Allen, Bam on the perimeter and his offensive game isn't close to other centers. He has no offensive game. They paid for an older, traditional rim protector. We will see but not a huge fan of the trade

I am concerned less about the defense. Towns has never been a factor anyway. They are trading the extreme versatility of Vanderbilt for elite rim protection. Which they have never had.

Losing Beverly with no replacement will be a bigger loss to the defense than Gobert/KAT pairing.

It's just bizarre to go all in for Rudy. Like...why not flip D Lo and grab something there for him and some picks?
There are like 30 players or more I'd have gone all in for over Rudy.
