But they did to put Robert Williams III on the 2nd team with Bam. He’s a Celtic. The Ringer is Bill Simmons baby and that outlet alone has multiple votes of automatons who do want Simmons says. Not sure why this no talent ass clown is given the deference he is given by others in NBA media but it is what it is. Watch…later today All NBA will be announced and Tatum will have Embiid’s spot on 1st team.

I doubt it. I get your point and I admittedly wasn’t thinking of that when I made my post.

Thing is, I don’t think Embiid is a better defender than Williams.

And Williams is a specialist so I kind of like him getting that recognition.

Used to be the other way around. Tie has traditionally gone to the better offensive player. I love seeing guys like Thybulle, Williams, etc getting those looks.

I couldn’t disagree more watching Embiid as often as I do. Embiid’s defensive presence isn’t often something that shows up in box scores because his mere presence results in adaptation from the offense. Just watch the non Embiid Sixers minutes and how often teams go to the basket vs when he’s in. He’s every bit the rim protection that Gobert is. I’m not knocking Williams. He’s a solid defensive player. And truth be told, the media has already made a mockery of these teams. But Embiid is without a doubt one of the best rim protectors in the NBA. I don’t think that can be debated.

The thing that unlocked Williams as a defender was the addition of Horford and Ime’s decision to play them together. Williams can’t body up a 5. He’s not built that way. Williams value is in being off ball and as a help defender. Embiid is much more versatile as a defender and can do more things.

Too many really good defenders.

Embiid is not making all defense over Gobert and Bam. And they aren’t going to do the same dance to place 2 centers on the all defense team when there are so many other deserving players like Draymond to place there.

Everyone on that list is highly deserving

Jackson is overrated as a defender. Shouldn't have been 1st or 2nd team all defense. The guy fouls at a ridiculously high rate but because he can block shots means he's some great defender to these silly voters

I agree with that.

Think I would replace JJJ with someone other than Embiid though.

All fair takes

I’m fine not going totally positionless

I also hate this space ball bs

The 3pt line was (and still is) a made for tv gimmick

It makes the game way more fun than just throwing it into Shaq or Ewing in the post

Yeah.

It may have been a gimmick originally, but it has made the game a lot better now that teams know how to use it.

Basketball wasn’t meant to be played within 18 foot of the hoop.

Post basketball is good basketball.

But not when every play is about getting as close as you can to shoot.

It clogs things up terribly.

That is why the 90s and early 2000s were so bad. ISO ball + defensive minded teams + not properly utilizing the spacing the 3 point line could offer.

The flow of the game is much better today.

I'll take him over Doc, lol.
I don’t know why you guys are so concerned with who coaches the Lakers. They gambled and got their bubble title but with the Westbrook move, it’s over now. LeBron is on the back end and Brow can’t stay healthy. You’re kicking the can down the road for the next generation of Laker basketball post LeBron. So why does the head coach matter in that spot when you’re just playing out the string?

It also means players passing on easy layups for a 30ft jumper far too often, not to mention players pounding out the shot clock without moving the ball to take a step back 3. Plusses and minuses.
