The Knicks are now essentially RJ's team.
He'll be in NYC for a while.
They are going to be Brunson's team.

If they get Dejounte, you'd think RJ is gone.

RJ is a #3 at best.

I wouldn't want to pay what it would take to retain him.

Windhorst just said the Knicks have 8 tradeable 1st rounders .

They can get another deal done to avoid paying Barrett.

I think it's unlikely, but he has a point. Kyrie opted in so that he doesn't lose $30 million and everyone seems to think that means the whole thing is over. Threatening to walk away from $30 million was Kyrie trying to create leverage. His next deal and the Nets not being willing to commit long term is what got this all started...they don't seem to be any closer to a deal than they were when he opted in.

Before he opted in, it looked like things were setting up so that the Nets only had the Lakers to deal with. It will be interesting to see what happens if negotiations continue and they still can't get a deal done. Do they cave, do the trade for Westbrook, tell him to stay home and be happy to get a couple of future 1sts...or do they keep trying to deal with him and let him walk for nothing?

This whole thing is so surreal. I can't remember a time where a player of Kyrie's caliber only had 1 team willing to trade for him and even that team wouldn't if they had a choice.

Because you can't commit max money to a guy who doesn't give a shit.

If there is any truth to this, the Lakers doing a lot of circling-back-around these days.

I'm surprised GMs have not blocked that dudes number.

Well that's not saying much right now but RJ has been less than impressive so far.

If they are trading for Murray and/or signing Brunson, no way. If they can't get one of those guys, of course, the team is garbage around RJ unless Randle has another great year like 2021.

Westbrook might be available... Lol

Could you imagine Westbrook and Pat Bev on the same roster?

D Lo may as well be MJ in comparison to RW and that contract.

Toscana-Anderson too.

I don't think he will be unemployed long.

Someone will give him a minimum.

Sure and while we all love JTA he wasn't even a rotation player. Porter is the only meaningful piece that won't be back IMO

I don't know how Shams can write that with a straight face.

Harden knows he might get $47 mil this year but his subsequent value would fall off a cliff, so he would rather sign a multi-year deal now.
